I painted my shoyru halloween soon after I got my account, simply because I like halloween shoyrus and I wanted at least one painted pet.
But now...I think I'm probably going to abandon him eventually. ^^; I don't like to have more than a few pets, so I've decided that they must be my all-time favorite species/colors, not just species/colors I like. But the pb is not totally wasted, since having him on my account makes me look less poor. My other pets, you see, are unpainted; I am saving for the veeeery expensive faerie pb (about 6 times more expensive than halloween! o_o), and when I buy that pb and paint my favorite pet, I will abandon my shoyru.

The only paint brush I bought was darigan, but I don't regret it. I love my bori.

I repaint mine depending on the season. Time for halloween now!!!

I once had a gelert on an old account, and I got a checkered paint brush by cheating the referral system (harhar I'm so bad), so I promptly painted him.

Not really.
I spent my life at Neocolours before deciding my pet colours. I only want the best and would earn as much neopoints as it takes to get my "perfect pet" (eg I like none of the xweetok colours apart from the faerie colour). I very nearly regretted the baby paint brush though.
