Hoban looks positively evil in that one, confriming that the character's perception of him does change his appearance in the stories...

Veeeeeeeery interesting... (well.. not really.. but I can pretend :P )

Looks like I get to be the first one to point out an inconsistancy between the different perspectives we've heard so far.

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, but Linae (Kougra) is the only person so far who's memory of the storm places Anshu (Ruki) below deck. Every other chapter shows Anshu on deck hoisting ropes.

Having said that, I suspect any sign of conspiracy involving Linae and Anshu is just a red herring. I think it's more likely that the entire crew is keeping a secret. If that is the case, perhaps the Captain might disclose more background as his trust levels rise.

i still think that maybe we have to make a crew of our own or somthing to go help them or we go with them to find cause he said ::

"I... would like to thank you for your help so far. I must admit I was skeptical at first, but you've proven to be quite genuine in your willingness to help and I am grateful. If more Neopians were like you... perhaps we could..."

He trails off... lost in thought. You're about to ask him what he means exactly when he speaks up again."

or i dunno maybe im just being weird

Oo I think the new petpet is cute.
Maybe some how we'll get him for a prize? =o

What on earth is going on with TNT? The ship in two places at once, a mispelling on the page... Not updating the faerieland map seems particularly strange, because at least the mispelling is something that wouldn't be caught by a spellchecker.

Anyway, I had a thought. It had been suggested that perhaps they were drawing this out to gain interest, but that doesn't seem to make sense considering they aren't even mentioning it in the news when it lands. Does anyone else think that's rather odd?

not really, they dont post other things about plots in the news do they? If it is a plot.

Well, this is finally getting more interesting. Whoever did the timeline earlier will have fun with this (or won't have much hair left after a while). Hoban keeps appearing in different places and talking with different people while on deck. He sure doesn't seem to stay at his post, whatever that is. If it's at the helm, as shown in this chapter, the storm hit while on someone else's watch. And, since he was right there with the Captain, it seems like the Captain knows more than he's letting on. Maybe he's waiting to tell us what he knows until he feels he can totally trust us; or there's something going on that he can't tell us and he's letting us sort-of waste time while other things play out.

I hope at the end that they don't expect you to guess and answer correctly (individually) who did what, because it seems unfair that if you've spent time reading every comic, all your time is down the drain because you didn't pick up on the smallest detail and you're left with nothing while people who guess and are lucky get what should have been yours. :/

I guess I'm just afraid all my time of reading them and trying to figure things out will be wasted. :/

*shrug* Maybe you're right. I'm probably just nitpicking because there still isn't a lot to do. I like Linae, though, and her chapter seems more clear than the others, so I'm not really disappointed by the update.

I really like the poster on her cabin wall. I hope that is a new petpet or something.

I agree.

Strange... in the first two he looks amused, in the third he's pulling a sarcastic face and in the fourth he looks as if he's about to smash the table to pieces

Lol. He does. I'd also guess that the people would have a different perspective (sp) of it, depending on their nature, more shy people would see him as more angry, because they might be comparing his actions to their own, where as outgoing/generally testy people would see his anger as nothing o_O

I noticed that too. It could just be that the others were busy with their own things and didn't notice that he wasn't there, so their memories just put him as being in a helping out position. Linae and Anshu seem to be friends, though (her story mentions him a lot), so maybe she would have taken more notice of him than the others.

I still don't trust Banju as far as I can throw him. He looks decidedly shifty in Linae and Kentari's versions, and if two of the three crew members we've spoken to remember him that way, there must be something to it...

And yeah, Hoban looks totally demented in Linae's version, but I think it's because Linae doesn't like him. Her perception of his personality would color her memory of him and exaggerate how he was acting.

I wish they'd give us some explanation as to why they're in the desert to begin with. And why they flew to Faerieland for that matter. What's going through the captain's head, you know? You're looking for someone who fell off a boat into the ocean...so you search a floating cloud-city and the desert? o_O

I'm going to stop babbling now. XD Forgive me if I've repeated anything (I read through all the posts since the ship reappeared, but I may have missed something), I'm just thinking out loud. ._.

Does that secret message still work? (Firefox)

Wed Aug 23, 2006 8:10 pm

The secret message was a fake :P

People, don't waste your sanity on plot inconsistencies. It's really unlikely that it matters if Hoban was first seen in a place and then in another. It's just TNT's lazy plotting.

I don't know if it's been mentioned or not, but it seems like it would have been obvious to NOT go the faerieland, and so whoever put up the idea to go up there, might have been stalling to make sure that Hobin wasn't going to be found again, because if he was found, he would probably be able to say who it was who pushed him off. x.X
