I had no clue who Hoban or Firefly were so I searched. Looks like a show only a Trekkie could love. I never heard of it although I confess I only turned on the TV 4 times between 2002-04 when it aired...not kidding! Was this a popular show?

Forgive me if it's already mentioned... but Hoban is carrying a compass along with the maps, and that compass looks remarkably like the Wooden Compass that you could get as a code prize from the Travels in Neopia TCG.

Not that it means anything, just something I noticed.

Heh, I don't like Star Trek at all, but I enjoyed Firefly. Most of its fans are Buffy and Angel fans, as all three shows were created by Joss Whedon. Firefly was set in space, yeah, but it was more about characters and story and witty dialogue than space stuff... no silly gadgets, no uniforms, no holodecks, none of that. It was really more of a western, with the horses and the old guns and the whole crew of criminals thing. ;) And it wasn't very popular at the time, as FOX only aired I think 9 of the 13 episodes (out of order, no less). It became insanely popular on DVD, and a movie based on the show, Serenity, was released into theaters last year. But anyway, I don't want to get all off-topic, so I'll stop there!

Firefly references aside, this "plot" is boring me. I hope we do actually get to do something eventually, though I agree that it's probably a mystery and we just have to pay attention to all the stories and then answer a question at the end.

This rumour was spread around the neoboards because a lot of people don't understand how the comic is made.

I am no expert, but the numbers are part of the code used to make the comic, sometimes when you clicked back to the 1st chapter an error in the code would show the speech bubbles with numbers. It had nothing to do with clicking on the eye.

Another error was the Chefxxx error, where the comic would show the code-filler for the Chef's name (likely before he was named).

That error is completely different from the "secret message" that Euthie mentions. She also does mention the Chefxxx message, but she said that once you click on the eye enough times, this message comes up:

Also, people are saying that Hoban threatened to drive the ship into a storm because people were saying he was bad luck, but that can't be true! They were only saying that he was bad luck because after he said "i'll drive this ship into a storm", the ship was driven into a storm!
I think at least... that's what i got from it.

moop. prizes.

Ok, different thing, but the screenie is a complete fake. As already explained in past posts, the evidence is there to point to a fake.

But in all honesty, how could anyone believe it to be true? Trying to read that message is like slow torture. TNT would never write like that. Besides, the crew are not pirates, so why would they start talking like them?

The person responsible for that crap actually went onto the boards and told everyone it was fake. Hopefully if they do it again, I can get a screenie.

People have way too much time on their hands... I can think of many things more fun and rewarding than making fake screenshots...

... cutting the entire lawn with nail scissors for example

*ahem* anyways. I thought the emphasis on the food and dishwashing was just to show how single minded the chef was, I found it rather funny and a good character insight. Didn't read any more into it than that though.

Yeah, I agree with that. It at least tells us that if the chef is so wrapped up in his job, his observations might not be as accurate as we think.

Edit: Also, has anyone considered that maybe Hoban is hiding ON the ship? Probably a little far-fetched, but it would explain why he's not on Krawk Island, Mystery Island, or in Faerieland.

Woot for sci-fi westerns! It's all about Bruce Campbell in The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.

I liked that bit of the plot personally ;)
