What he is responding to has got be of some significance, doesn't it? What were they talking about in the first place? Did I miss this part? 'Cause all the stories start off this way. Maybe I'm digging too deep. I think I'm just bored. I tried a bunch of combos for the chef's cooking pot, but got nothing.

I thought it was because someone (I can't remember who at the moment) told him he was bad luck.

Seems like the psychology could go either way. Any truly adept navigator is sure they could sail *around* a storm to safety; hence would also be able to sail into a storm or allow that to happen, even if only out of spite.

Accused of being bad luck often results in the accused doubting oneself *or* simply feeling unwanted and/or unappreciated by the group; thus might choose to sail into the storm and jump ship to be on one's own (feeling unsupported, alienated and/or abandoned).

The slow nature of the plot irks me, but I can deal with it as my life is pretty stormy now as well and can't devote 24/7 to refreshing on PPT.

I now just don't even think we can rely on the first, Captain's, reiteration of the tale, and perhaps we might not get a full story until Hoban himself can tell his side of the story.

And whoever mentioned Hoban might be a girl, then someone else thought no reason to doubt "his" gender, I might also voice some suspicion. I can recall many a "pirate" or adventure tale wherein a young female chose to disguise herself as male to better fit in with the crowd.

I don't suspect it might be part of this plot, but I couldn't help but notice even as an animated neopet "she" looked strikingly more female to me.

Sorry guys. And gals, but Hoban's actual "moodiness" gives her away. No "typical guy" freaks out like that when accused of being bad luck. Hoban acts like someone in doubt, with something to prove, and something to explain (with the candlestick in the dining room? wait no, lol).

And please understand I do speak in terms of energies, not strict genders per se. I acknowledge we all have both energies, but there are characteristics that generally define each one, hence the need for balance.

EDIT: To further clarify my above thoughts, I just found it odd that Hoban continually had to ask for reassurance from several crew members, sort of threw an angry tiff over it (even Chef avoided her, I mean him hehe), and then instead of "proving" herself by navigating the best s/he always had, chose to jump ship (possibly) during a storm s/he sailed into.

Like I said, even if Hoban is not female, he seems like he has a lot of explaining to do otherwise, even though he has done nothing inherently wrong really. Just owes his crew an explanation as to the details of his disappearance in my opinion. Oh and us, we are "watching" after all.

The Secret Message. In chapter two of the comic, the fifth frame is Captain Tuan standing between Kentari & the old Ruki, with his arm around both. If you click on the Captain's RIGHT eye (on our left) a number of times (people say different things: 112, 121, 211), then a page comes up.

Did anybody do this yet? I have tried it several times and haven't gotten anything.

But, I see no separate frame for the Captain's eye? I think it is a hoax.

Hoax. Some people where saying that the flash file might have a few different loading layers you could click on, but that would be too much trouble for TNT to go through for just one clue. Hell, the might have altered the image to do away with this rumor.

LOL Yes I would agree on that, but I thought to add more detail to my sentiment. The fact Hoban keeps asking for reassurance is self-doubt. Maybe I am looking too deep into things on the gender issue, but I do feel strongly embedded in psychology are basic "human" (talking about neopets here, lol) reactions. One could choose to "prove them all wrong" by veering away from the storm and be a hero, or choose to sabotage. Or like I speculated earlier, Hoban might have jumped ship feeling outcast.

Hence my first sentiment is probably more what I meant, about the psychological reaction from anyone could go either way. I think my "bad day" rubbed off on PPT here a little, sorry. When plots are this boring my imagination and emotions create some silly recipes. Heh.

Yes, I agree. Hoban probably ran off on his/her own - maybe because he/she felt he/she caused the storm.

Either that or that little green dragon thing standing next to the captain did it. I suppose it could also be the captain himself, though not likely.

I don't think it will be any of the others because I think the boat will become a regular "land" people can visit and all of the other members of the crew have an important role/shop to play. If they put the chef in jail, there'd be no more cooking pot. If they put the shoyru in jail, who will sell the weapons?

By the way, since Hoban was apparently the ship's navigator and he/she is gone now, maybe the astrolabe will actually come in handy now, though that would be unfair to those who did not participate in the Altador Plot.

The Captain/first mate thing are the only ones that do not have a foreseeable role in the ship if it does indeed become visitable. The ship could remain mobile and still be a 'land mass,' kinda like the flying city in Skies of Arcadia.
