Yep, that's true, you can't search for those things. In this case, I just got lucky. I was buying codestones for training and just noticed those things in the shops - I always look around when I'm in a shop ... just in case.
Sometimes you just get lucky. 2 potions bought for 8k, sold for 275k ...
