Well, I've transferred 4 or 5 of my own pets between account successfully (including the Island Cybunny. *Phew*), and have never lost any of the pets I was was aiming to grab.

However, when I was doing Cybunny transfers a few weeks ago for people here on PPT, only one of the three pets actually made it to their designated owner. Sad

How were you communicating? Had you set a time for transfer or were you on IM? Sorry to sound intrusive, but I really want this to work, and if my first three pets get sniped in transfer thats a sure-fire way to get frozen...

I haven't taken a poll or anything, but I'd say the success rate of transfers properly done, where neither the pet name nor the fact that you're doing a transfer has been publicised, is quite high. I figure I've done 20+ pet transfers, both one and two person and including a number of rare pets and :knock on wood: have had no losses yet. All of my two-person transfers have been via IM except one, and that wasn't a rare pet (I was borrowing him for his aged avatar petpet).

However, there's obviously no guarentee: people's computers hang, freeze, crash, or drop Internet access at just the wrong time. And if someone finds out you're doing a transfer of a particular pet and sets an autorefresher on it, all bets are off.

At one time it seemed like auto-pound-surfers were a problem with rare or limited color transfers, but I haven't heard of them being a big deal recently. Perhaps the new 4-month rule is helping keep them in check (the cheaters can't just keep creating new accounts as their old ones get frozen).
