I hate to break it to y'all, but the plot updates happen when they sync the site. In other words, all of the day's updates happen at the exact same time, plot updates, new competitions, news, everything. If there's no update now, there won't be one.

Since I have seen several "bugs" get fixed in the morning, I think it is safe to assume that Neopets can release more than one update in a day. However, there has been only one Altador plot update that was not the same minute as the news. So odds are there is no update. There is a chance of course. And it could also be that it was way more difficult than all the others and has not been found. Since Neopets does several other European things, they might be taking Monday as a light day.
Plot wise though, I think it would be neat to have the tax collector found on tax day which like Krawk day has become all weekend Neopets wise. Their next news update wil be for Tuesday on Monday night.
EDIT: At least I assume what he collects is taxes/money.

Whoever guessed that the Collector was a collector of taxes was right. I was hoping he was going to be a collector of Pokemon or Beanie Babies or something.

About the update, it might come tomorrow since tomorrow is U.S. Tax Day and delaying the regular schedule all week just so Collector Gordos could be released on Tax Day for the U.S. seems like something Neopets might do (except their origin is British...when's Tax Day for the U.K.?) Just my guess.
