The flash file got "reverse-engineered".

downloaded the swf and then "decompiled" it to a fla file. Then loaded that into macromedia flash. That gives you all the coding for it with all the graphics and other stuff. I can post the fla file somewhere I guess

I just got a great hint from someone on the Neoboards. Aurorakitten, to be exact. It really works, I just tried it.

1. u get the data from that link
2. paste all the things into ms word.
3. replace "|" with special char (^p) so that each x,y,type of star is at a different line
4. replace "," with special char (^t)
5. copy the entire thing and paste into excel
6. then each value will be in a different box

This is a godsend for people who are having trouble mapping out their constellations. Sorry if this has already been pointed out.

even though the TCG only shows 4 stars for the thief is it possible that we have been off and there are 6: one at the tip of the blade, three at the hand guard, one in the middle of the blade and one at the end of the hilt

Here are my two starting points, upon refreshing Telescope various times:

http://images6.theimagehosting.com/view_1.jpg

http://images6.theimagehosting.com/view_2.jpg

Here are the first few strings of coordinates of two different star_data files:

-1,-255,1|-101,-520,1|-105,-308,1|-106,-186,2|-108,-487,2| ...

-108,-337,2|-117,73,5|-118,-257,6|-125,-488,5|-137,-56,3| ...

There appears to be no pattern or repetition in the number sequences, though I only checked with the first coordinate of each against the other. Too tired to do that several hundred times.

Anyone else finding it impossible to start the plot at this point??? I've tried doing several of the things in the directions and I'm not finding any clickable book and no telescope to advertise for the club that has to be joined....I just want to start playing

You can take that data and make a plot graph with it too and then you will have all the points and not that background with fake stars. you could even color it with the type of star

I think you can use the data import wizard in Excel to do the same thing without having to use Word though (columns are delimited by "," and rows are delimited by "|").

Yeah, well, *ahem*, let's see if this worked.

Uh, I really feel pretty silly asking this, but how do you take a "screenie"? I kept thinking that if re-read the how-tos already posted that I'd be able to figure this out...but I'm not. So, I'm all in for making my map tonight/morning, but can't seem to get how to take the shot so I can paste it somewhere. And where/what program works the best?

hit the key that says print scrn right next to your f12 key on your keyboard and then open up paint or whatever graphics program you have and paste it there and save it ;)

I don't know how legal looking at the source code of the flash files are....

But uh, in the Constellation function there are 12 objects. I bet those are related to the 12 constellations....

*glances around* Okay, no one's around at work, so I'm going to play with this theory for a bit.....

I'm fairly certian that TNT put it there for us to find which means they want us to look there.

It's probably a bannable offense, but I guess, for you, it all depends on how strong PPT's privacy policy is in practice. :P

If someone figures out why I can't seem to get any of the early steps to work, please either neomail or email me at the same username as I use here. Greatly appreciated.... I don't get why they would close this plot, seems highly unlikely so I hope I'm just doing something wrong.
