Is it just me or is anyone else reminded of a cartoon dog when they look at this pet? I get the feeling that it could just come running at me, tongue sticking out of it's mouth, ready to lick my face.

I get the feeling al new pets must appeal to the younger players. They are all cartoonish and cute. I liked the old look on the lama where it looked a little scared and frightened. Now it just looks like a very happy dog.

I'm not happy with this pet. And I feel that al pets are made accoording to some kind of checklist as they all have kind of the same features (big eyes, cutsy looking, little childish)
I love the Xweetoks but the Ogrin and this lama thing are definately not my favorites.

For all the people who votes for this pet, where exited it was released and have now been dissapointed *hug*

Wow. Why not call it a Tonu2? That thing isnt unqiue enough to be a real pet.

But yeah, now im somewhat glad TNT didnt make the gorillia turtle, they wouldve messed that up as well and I would be in tears right now :P

I didn't vote for it, but WOW, I can't believe they thought this was anything resembling a good idea.

I don't think it would have even made third place in the poll if it always looked this goofy.

Six random people could've told TNT that the majority of people would be more than a little dissatisfied with Ogrin. Another six random people could've told TNT that changing an already okay pet that people obviously liked in such a dramatic matter would've been a bad idea.

But a lot of people like the Ogrin. If those 6 people had told them not to release it, I wouldn't have got what I think is the coolest pet yet...

Yes, the llama pet got redrawn, you have to realise, they were never going to release it with it's old look. They stated that. They also stated they didn't want the 50 pets released on site because the majority of them had been rejected when suggested. You shouldn't have expected not to get a major revamp after what they had said.

From the looks of it, the majority dislike the ogrin or just think it's "okay". There are a few who like it, myself and you included, but you can't deny the amount of angry protests against it. To do so is just selfish. Now I'm not saying to concede to the idea that the ogrin is ugly, I'm just saying that the other side has a voice too, and it's pretty loud.

And yes, they could change the old look. But that doesn't justify redrawing it into something that has lost all of attitude and quality that was the reason people had voted on it for. I'm not angry that they changed it. I'm angry that they actually took a step backward in the looks department. There's such a thing as improvement but TNT seems to like the concept of regression. Enhance it, don't disfigure it.

I think that what has to be realized is that they asked people to vote on which one they wanted. People did, and now it's not what they wanted. Of course people are mad, this isn't what they voted for. I feel that if they were going to redraw the pets, they should have redrawn them and let people vote on the REDRAWN ones.

Anyway. I still think it's cute, it's just cute in a different way. I do prefer the old one, and I would create one if it had stayed the same, but I don't think the new one is utterly terrible like most people are making it out to be.

I still prefer this little guy though. <3

Actually, I like the new version much, much better than the old one, which I found...plain.

I still prefer the varwolf overall, but I like this llama-thing enough to consider it as another pet. ^^

Ogrin, on the other hand...I'm sorry, but no matter how much I try to give it a chance, I hated it to begin with, and I still hate it. I'm surprised (no offense; each to his/her own) that the general consensus seems to be that ogrin are better than...er, "llama-thing" (heh...I still can't remember how to spell its name).[/url]

Now you're asking me to go editorial hunting back around April...I'll try and see if I can find it. I'll edit it in here if I do

[EDIT] - Found it quicker than I thought :P

You just released 50 new species !! how are you going to give them all a day of there own like kiko day? and how are you going to make them be able to be painted with paintbrushes? - Nikki24772005
Hehe :) That was our little April Fool's Day joke. We always do something silly at this time of year. Those species aren't really released, and they won't have their own pet days. You are not by any means the only person who fell for it. (You can stop sending the angry *how dare you release 50 or why are they so ugly* messages now heh ). I mean did you see the Hughhman or the scary Gorilla/Turtle ?!?! :D

Is there even the remotest, tiniest chance that some of the April fool's pets might be released in the future? The "Sharkaw" and "Polaflint" look pretty cool, and the Neopets menagerie doesn't have any bobcat or lemur-like critters yet. - Gizmonic

Well a lot of those pets were designs that didn't quite make it in the past. If one or two seem popular we could possibly end up tweaking the things we didn't like so much about them and adding a more refined version. We have no plans to do that at present though.

Please can you release the 'Sharkaw'. Its over a million times better than the kougra which now looks awful. I myself have 2 kougras which I'm desperate to turn into the Sharkaw. There were also alot of pets in the April Fool's joke which put alot of the real neopets to shame but the quality of their drawings. (I also really liked the spider and the standing lizard like pets). - Malabui
I probably shouldn't say this as it will spark mass hysteria, but we are thinking of adding a vote so the most popular pets from April Fools Day can be tweaked and made into actual Neopets that you can adopt. They most probably will not be generally available to all, but there will be a way to get them. How many we release really depends on the voting. With any luck this will begin next week. Also the names of the new Neopets will most likely change as they were just jokey names.

Like long lost brothers!

Wow.

Normally I agree with a lot of the new pet criticisms, but this time I am baffled by the reactions.

I love this design. It's the first new pet I have liked in a long time. I don't think it looks like a Tonu at all.
This one is different enough to be appealing (unlike the Xweetok and Ogrin IMO) and yet it still has a nice "Genuine Neopet" feel to it.

(I do however think the Ogrin looks like a Ruki with fur.)

thanks for finding that for me. I honestly hate that they feel that they need to "tweak" everything so that it's all weird and goofy looking. maybe they should have a secondary voting.

for instance, we all voted on the april fools pet that we liked, and the llama won. now, they should make a bunch of different versions of the llama (including the original), and see which one wins (wether it be the new, original, or another version). I think that this would help the users choose which one they like best. why not give the users a chance to voice their opinion? Who buys their overpriced merchandise? we do. who has to put up with tons of banner ads and stupid sponser games? we do. who has to put up with tons of overly cutesy pets? we do. and who, despite all that, still play their site? We do. the least that they could do is let their users have their choice, have THEIR say about what they want. now, I don't mean that they have to have a poll for every stinking little thing, but something as big as a new pet, we should be able to vote on.

why do we have to keep putting up with ugly mediocre pets that were fine just the way they were when they were originally created? why can't the users have a chance to have a pet that they LIKE, and not one that has been "tweaked" or "revamped" just because a few of the staff like it. If Adam or Donna like pets to have giant hairy chests, that's fine, then you can have 1 or 2 pets that have a hairy chest, but don't make every single pet released have that same characteristic, it makes things boring and unintresting.

If they want to release a bunch of new pets, then they should release a completly new and intresting kind of pet, not just a strange hybrid of already existing pets. the new version of the llama barely looks like a llama, and looks more like a mix of a chomby, yurble, and tonu.

please don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to flame TNT or be contemptuous or anything, I just feel that there are certain things that could be done to make everybody's life a little easier.

I can't see how this design would be considered a refinement of the original llama. I thought the llama looks pretty darn refined to begin with, especially compared to a lot of the other pets.

Thu Dec 29, 2005 4:50 am

The main reason why I dislike it is because it just looks plain goofy. And if there's one thing I dislike, it's goofy. It's all about attitude with me. The eyes look skewed. The ears are floppy. The nose is enormous. I think I could take the mane actually and the body is close enough to the old so that it's not really a big deal, but the head and face are just off. When I look at it, I get this image of it bumbling around, cross-eyed and tongue hanging out of it's mouth as it stumbles into a wall, bounces off and giggles. It's just...goofy.

But you know, I just figured out a way they could fix it. Just a tiny little thing, and I'd accept it. Bring the chin up higher and make the nose just a little slash. That is all. Keep the ears. Keep the eyes. Keep the mane. That's all they need to do and I'll go, "Well, it's okay I suppose."

Say what you want and call me crazy and a little obsessive about details, but that makes a huge difference to me.
