Okay, as an addendum to my previous post:

There are two ways of getting a guaranteed win: Thyora's Tear/Thick Smoke Bomb/Downsize! Power Plus, which block all damage, and Jade Scorchstone/Leaded Elemental Vial/etc. which heal you completely. Of these, Thick Smoke Bomb costs 15k and everything else is unbuyable.

There is another way of getting a guaranteed win for any pet over 30 HP: Burrow and Starlight Potion. Since Burrow blocks 97.5% of everything except dark and light, and starlight potion blocks all dark, and he has no weapons that do light, and since the most damage I've seen him do is a bit over 1k, if you use this method the most damage he can do is 25. Any pet with 30 HP can withstand this.

There are other ways of winning: they depend on your pet. Some people's pets are strong enough to withstand a few hits normally. Some people's pets are almost strong enough, and a light healer will give them just enough to survive. In any case, these methods are not guaranteed, and you shouldn't use them unless you know what you're doing.

I just wanted to make sure that a philosophical theory wasn't interpreted as an actual battle strategy. I also wanted to point out the very effective battle strategies that were posted in the midst of the theory.

I chose the staff too, for very similar reasons. :P

Yes, all hard feelings cleared up, no worries. But, ahem, not to beat a dead Nightsteed here :P but I *was* suggesting my theory as a tactic to obtain the 100,000 Battledome (not plot) points since we only get one chance to Win or Draw. Considering I am also a young pet (and a cheapskate) with few HP and little Strength, along with not willing to spend NP even for Burrow abilities and such, I think my strategy might be helpful to many, *if* there is indeed some encrypted logic behind *why* there were even 3 choices of weapons (as someone suggested earlier). TNT very well could have done similar to the Vial and Smoke, no choice there. EDIT: I only have 18 HP. :( (No Burrow, but Starlight gave me Draw.)

I thought I knew what I was doing, lol.
I burrowed and (as a test) used a different, standard BD weapon first round.
I hit him pretty hard but he t-teared and jade SS first round. Second round I used the cocktail stirrer of plotty doom and we offed each other. Draw.

anjuna thank you for the advice.. I used brute force and intelligence and I believe I got lucky with what he threw at me :)

ok, can someone please explain why a few people are able to battle him again? Most of us it seems once we battle using the Nuria weapon see him on our 1 player list, but you can't click the name. But there are some people who CAN keep fighting (and winning thus getting more points) using the Nuria weapon.

And why is a draw against him a 0? Does that mean those of us who went and fought hiim early on before there was more of a strategy/good weapons, sheild and abilites and tried to battle "like normal" (using burrow) won't get any credit for our battle?

Ok, guys, hang on a minute.

First of all, no one is really harping on anyone. What I see are a bunch of people trying to make things easier on everyone by giving the solution to the problem.

What is the problem? Razul seems to be an undefeatable little chum. But it is doable. If I was able to destroy him at my puny stats, then you can.

Get a weapon from Nuria's statue. ANY weapon. It doesn't matter. Do you know what made me pick mine? I thought the scimitar looked cool! That's it! No physics, no stat equations, I just thought it looked cool.

Equip the weapon.

Get Starlight Potion if you do not have the ability Burrow.

Equip the Starlight Potion (if you needed it).

Go to Battledome.

Challenge Razul.

Select the weapon, the potion, and defend OR the weapon and burrow.

Watch yourself win the battle.

I know tensions are high, but please remember that we couldn't get where we are now without each other. These threads are nothing without teamwork and helping each other out!

Okay, first question: "cool" in what way? Not "pretty" like in a Wand of Righteousness/Vanity sort of way, right? In a "argh! this thing looks mighty/brutal/forceful" sort of way? Correct me if I am wrong here, of course.

Because I used the Starlight Potion and only got a Draw. So just as people keep asking me to stop posting "false theories" please stop posting "false facts" and no hard feelings or harm intended.

Anjuna, did you choose the weapon, the potion, AND defend?

I used the Spear of Infinite Wisdom with the Starlight Potion and my Nimmo Chant in the Battledome to get a Draw. Why do I feel like I am in a game of Clue?

With 34/24 HP (Faerie Springs). Equiped: Spear, Starblabla Potion. Ability used: Burrow.

allnameswereout On the last move... Razul
You put some light on Razul by releasing the Starlight Potion at them!

You lunge at Razul with your Spear of Infinite Wisdom!

Razul throws an Ultra Attack Chive at you!!! Whew, those are strong!

Razul opens the mouth of the Moehog Skull and a noxious gas seeps towards you!

Razul attacks you like berserk!

You brighten up Razul's darkness attack with the Starlight Potion!

You defend yourself against Razul's physical attack by Burrowing into the ground!

Damage (me):
12 hp
Damage ('it'):
9 hp

34 - 12 = 22. 22/24 is my currect health before battle over. Now 24/24 i assume. As i said, i used the Faerie Springs... Money spend: 600 NP for the potion. No need for a 12K item, haha.

So I hear, Burrow is a 12,000 NP investment (I am not willing to make, even for 100,000 Battledome points, not that it matters after the fact). :P

Starlight potion will give you the guaranteed win only in conjunction with the ability Burrow, as SP only blocks dark. (And then again, only if your pet has enough hitpoints to withstand the icons that get past Burrow's 97.5% protection.) Like dolphinling said, it only takes about 30 hitpoints to survive the attack with Burrow + SP, so this would be a much cheaper option than TSB for most pets, if one already has the Burrow ability

Yunamaxieboytanda, your win had nothing to do with luck. You used the ultimate defense... the Thick Smoke Bomb. It didn't matter what Razul threw at you... dark, light, fire, snot, snow, matter, anti-matter, the kitchen sink, TSB blocks everything. TSB + Nuria's weapon = guaranteed win for any pet, even the weakliest weakling with like 1 hitpoint. :P

I KNEW it was Professor Plum!

Anyway, I think the only thing that is certain here is that nothing is certain. There seems to be no absolute, no guarantees. Also, those that got a draw, I sympathize with you, I would be wondering also. Yes, you weakened him but geez, if the choice is win or draw....I'd want to win also!!! For the record, I used the mace and a lousy snowball of some odd sort, whatever was already equipped to my pet and I won and incase anyone is keeping track looking for a pattern:
Level : 78
Health : 75 / 75
Strength : AWESOME 78
Defence : AWESOME 60
Move : AWESOME 63
Intelligence : master genius 68

Yeah, as far as I can see, if you use any attack, you'll get hit, but if you defend or burrow (you know, run away like a screaming coward!) he will do little or no damage to you.

That's why yours was a draw. You used the weapon, you used the potion, but you didn't use defend or burrow.

Thu Nov 17, 2005 3:35 am

i won and my pet isn't a real battler....only 75 hp. i used drain life, which healed me for 100hp, and that made the difference...razul did 163 of damage, so i was left with 12. i know sink has helped me in the past too.

the only other weapon i used was a hand painted scarab. it blocked a little damage, and inflicted a little, but the drain life ability and the nuria weapon were the only things that seriously helped. i don't think you have to seriously train your pet or buy big items for this.....go to the healing springs and see if the faerie will grant you some extra hp, grab a decent weapon and your nuria weapon, and get a faerie defense ability (those always come in handy later anyway....a very good investment).

i don't think beating or drawing razul should matter that much at this point anyway. this is more part of the puzzle i think....if it was part of the "war" we should have to do a more serious battle, probably with more opponents, and be able to battle them more than once. so chin up guys! don't panic till you've got a real reason to....like when your mysterious scroll is stolen!
