Whee, first post. I've been lurking around here for a bit over a week - I pretty much found out about this plot as soon as the useless crystal part came out. Thought it'd take me too long to get caught up, but then I was stuck twiddling my thumbs with everyone else.
I just thought I'd mention that it looks like the light is time-based. I did a ton of refreshing in the ten minutes or so before 6pm with no results, then re-entered the model room at precisely 6pm NST, and got light! So either it's random, or you have to enter precisely on every tenth minute or something...

well i solved the mystery behind the crystal being in inventory. its not actually being put there. it dissapears after u leave the model

I couldn't get the light show either, on two separate trips to the room. on the third trip I placed my crystal and nothing, then I refreshed and my crystal was gone again, but there was a light shining from the ceiling so I placed my crystal again, and finally got the light show.

Someone else in my guild just got the lights. We are just trying to work out what she done to get them.
EDIT: She did nothing different, just kept trying the crystal and when she went in the last time, the crack had light coming through it and the crystal fitting in and light up the wall.
EDIT 2: Could be every hour.

I think it is probably time-based, because people are reporting not getting them, then refreshing or re-entering the room and getting them. The every 10 minutes theory is plausible... I have a very hard time refreshing at the exact right second because my computer lags, so I'm having trouble testing this.

I've been trying the "refreshing" trick at the model.
I've refreshed about 200 times now ... but still no light.
I'm always rather unlucky with the refreshing things, though. I *still* haven't gotten the Qasalan mummy as a challenger. I swear I have refreshed 1000 times for that.

Same here (for both). I've been refreshing like a maniac and nada. Boo.

They should all have symbols now. if not, try refreshing.

Anyone who has the light: What's the URL of the flash file? You can find it by viewing source and searching for PARAM name="movie" (if there's more than one, it's the one related to the desert)
Also anyone who has the lights: There's 15 symbols on the back wall, but if you throw out the ones that are blank spots in the lights, do you get one of each symbol?
