Hi, I've been reading for a while but as this is my first plot/mystery/?potential war I've been involved with, I didn't have enough knowledge about what is going on to make any sensible posts. Now I'm mildly less ignorant, thanks to PPT, I've become a member because of the great amount of intelligence and humour here. Now to the topic, and to display my ignorance of TNT's mindworkings, I want to comment on the banner ads for the Missing Page Alert. I am aware that it quite probably means nothing; that it is a regular feature, but... it has been there for over a week (2 weekends now). Surely they would have fixed it if it were a glitch; filled it with other ads if not - in Australia there is even a banner ad there now for our Australian Government's controversial Industrial Relations proposed changes. When IanB mentioned about translating our tablets again, he pointed out that they were 4x4 glyphs and this Missing Page Alert is numbered 404. Maybe it is a red herring, but I think it is a suspicious one.

Well, the plot does have Nabille and Tomos (did I spell that right?) ' visiting the Temple of 1000 Tombs, so I'm guessing that it's outside of Sakhemet (I don't think I spelled that right either)...

I'm afraid that this doesn't mean anything, even not a red herring... It's just the universal error message you get when a page on the internet can't be found...

That's correct. It does seem to be right outside the city, yet Jazan says (more than once) that he "travelled a great distance"

When Nabile & Tomos follow him it says "they follow the stranger far into the desert"

Eventually they stumble upon the Lost Temple...

So I think the temple is out of the Lost Desert, and I think Sakhmet is "hovering" somewhere in another dimension, near the temple.

Should be scouring other areas of neopia? Particularly the Haunted Woods? And I can't remember what happened to make me suggest the Woods, but there was some connection

Although it is how the name for the "Lost City" in NQ2 came to be... Get it? Phorofor = 404. :roflol: I don't know about you guys, but I liked it.

So do I, although I didn't notice it while I was playing NQ2, my mind had probably gone numb by the endless clicking around... :)

Exactly! But if you go back to the comics, the general and his party barely head far from the city gates. Likewise, Tomos and Nabile could have been too far from the city when they went back to truely reach the city again. Jazan's energy field could have a radius far enough away from the city so simply leaving the city is not enough, but it could be close enough that returning to within a few meters of the city won't let you pass through. Also, though it appears that Tomos and Nabile return to the city's outline, that could just be a product of the energy field. It never shows them actually passing into the same area as the city. One last thing, Jazan's spell could have caused the city and everyone/thing else in range of the spell to essentially doppler shift and only radiate UV, IR, or any other non-visible spectra. To the general when he comes out, the his visible spectra would have changed causing him to think that the world had changed.

Keep at it!

I thought about it being in a different place too. Maybe we should start searching...the explore map, haunted woods, and anywhere else.

Also, did anyone consider searching Tyrannia? I mean, it's supposed to be prehistoric...maybe it's involved in that time era?

Speaking of Tyrannia, does the lair of the beast have any purpose?

EDIT: Interesting tidbit: I just went through looking for 'clickies' in the Haunted Woods. did you all know that most of the 'scary rocks' were click-able?

Sat Oct 15, 2005 11:10 pm

No, I don't think the lair has a purpose...
Also, I think the connection between the Haunted Woods and the Lost Desert is from the introduction chapter that goes like this:
"Many Neopians don't know that south of the haunted woods lies blahblahblah..." or something like that. Now back to mapping the other half of that temple.... :(

clickable scary rocks?

Wow, I am so glad other people are starting to mention the Haunted Woods now. I suspected long ago that the way into the hidden dimension is through there OR maybe Mystery Island somehow (Geraptiku).

On the home page, the only description that is different for any of the worlds to explore is the Haunted Woods, reading in italics, "beware the beast that lurks behind the tree... "

(Not sure if that was always there, or has some significance now or what?)

EDIT: Very interesting about the scary rocks. Looks like something coming for Halloween! :D

EDIT 2: http://www.neopets.com/randomfriend.phtml?user=nuria (also not sure of the significance of this seemingly "blank" users profile, but it does have the icon for 64 months, who is that Mystery Island character?) Maybe we need to go to the Cooking Pot? To, um, cook some scrolls? :P

In terms of the user Nuria, I've been watching that account for awhile now and the age icon has been changing monthly like normal, so I'm not thinking that the fact it's the cooking pot faerie has any special significance, but I'm going to keep watching the account anywho.

Mmm... scroll chops, scroll-oped potatoes, scroll rack of lamb, scroll kabob, scroll-kiyaki, and, best of all, roast duck on a bed of foie gras with a side of asparagus.

Somehow makes me want to go back to the Kelp restaurant in Maraqua. I shelled out (no pun intended; hahah ok pun intended) something like 8,000 NP on a cocktail alone there the other day. :P
