pattypus wrote:Ok, this is a really stupid question......... what do the dots on the parchment mean?

The dots tell you which door to go to; the current list is below.

Parchment one (from the Pyramids game): Go to the door with one dot over it.
Parchment two (from the Snow Wars game): Go to the door with two dots over it.
Parchment three (from the Poogle Races): Go to the door with three dots over it.

You get the idea.

Good "morning" everyone. :)

I went to Neopets before coming here ... I wanted to see what I could figure out on my own. Here's a small report.

So I saw the new clue ... but I read it incorrectly as "I see a rivalry of fire." *laugh* So I was looking all over for some type of game that had fire in it. I couldn't find anything (non - flash) that seemed to really work.

Finally, I went back at read it again ... and saw that it was five. I laughed pretty good when I realized that.

I tried turdles first ... then poogles ... and luckily, I just decided to feed my poogle as well.

So, I've finished piece 3 now. Yay!

Now, I've read all the threads here ... and want to comment explicitly on my "map" of the temple ... since it seems to be a common question.

My Map: I'll might scan a page from my stupid map today. But to start out with ... I did it all by hand ... and I had no colored pencils or anything. Just a pen and paper.

I just have 5 spaces I use to draw doors in for each room. As I enter a room, I give it a number to identify it. So, my first room has a "1" above it.

Then, I use the 5 spaces to identify each door. I use the letter E if it is a hallway door. I draw the shape if it is a colored door. Above colored doors, I say what symbol is above it. Below the colored doors, I write the color. If there are left or right arrows on the room, I just draw those to the side of the room. I used L for a Library.

Now, to label each hallway door/left arrow/right arrow. I go through one of the hallway doors. I look to see if I have seen that room before. If I have ... I put the number of that room below the E in the room I just came from. If I haven't seen the room ... I give the room a new number ... and put that new number below the E in the previous room. Same with the left right arrows ... I just do the same process. I tend to do left/right arrows first ... because by going left ... you can always go right from the room you end up in to return back. With hallway doors, it is harder to assure yourself you will make it back to the room before.

Do *not* use the back button on your browser ... that will not work, and just end up putting you in a trap and messing up your map.

Also, if there is a hallway door that leads into the room ... there will *always* be a hallway door that will return you back. It may be in a different position in the room ... but it will exist.

I just keep repeating this process until all E's and left/right arrows have numbers next to them.

My map gives me absolutely no geometry of things ... but just a way to move from room to room.

So, for instance, my first couple of rooms could look like this (it doesn't ... but just an example):

Code:
                                              Room 1

           Cup           Fish                                    Paw
       Rectangle         Circle        E           E          Triangle      -->
           Blue         Yellow         2          45           Black          2

                                         Room 2

                                                        Paw          Sun
<--           E              E             L          Hexagon     Circle      -->
  1           8              1                         Black         Blue       3

Now, when I want to get to a specific room ... I just follow the numbers backwards until I get back to the entrance.

This was an easy way to map ... but it takes a little time to find a route to a specific room. Notice I don't have a true map, just a guide to get from room to room.

There ain't nothin to it but to do it, though. :) Sorry, I got windy again.

I was wondering if Jas could put this in first post of this split, or possibly just add it to the next one, as it seems to have been well tested. This question comes up a lot and it would just be easier to direct someone to the first post, rather then them having to search through several pages to find it.

Or at least group this part together, noone seems to be reading thru the bits about each parchment.

Yikes, I don't know how those who use this method keep motivated to finish. It's tedious "work" for me and I'm using HTML.

It's really isn't that bad.. but my piece of paper is getting a bit doggy-eared.. I hope it lasts long enough (i.e until the plot ends!)

you guys seem to be wrong about the whole dot thing.

on my parchment, I have:

ImageImageImageImage
ImageImageImageImage

so, I did what you guys told me to do and went through the door on the parchment that had two dots over it. in this case, a yellow triangle with two squigly lines over top.something that looks like this:

and I ended up in a trap and empty handed.

And that was from the parchment you got from snow wars?

Edit: and you didn't backspace or anything like that and with a clear cache?

Where did you get that parchment, -Ducky-? At the pyramids game, snow wars or poogle race?

Sounds like you're just unfortunate -Ducky- because it's been working for me.
