When you got a gallery there was an option to change your shop into a gallery I believe. So if you've spent a lot of money getting a big shop size you wouldn't need to spend a lot of money again to get a big gallery size. So it isn't a stupid move at all...

It is when you have a big shop actually. For me, I stock up in my shop and then sell my items at one shot. Now that I no longer can put my UB items in my shop, my shop has way too much space. Obviously, I don't want to convert my shop since it's just way too big as a gallery. Thus, I need to spend nps making a gallery... It is rather troublesome, but there are people who like it and people who don't. Guess I'm siding with those that don't like the change. What I feel is that it's totally unnecessary. the trading post works fine, why bother making the shop cover areas that the trading post already covers?

Because it slows down the servers to search for items like codestones that are listed at 123,123 neopoints, and have been since 2002. Making this change will speed up searches, as well as reduce server drain caused by running the search script and coming up with half a screen full of irrelevant results, and will also reduce loading times on shops that are half-full with unbuyable morphing potions, when all a person really wants is, say, a pteri sundae.
It will also end a lot of confusion coming from people neomailing shop owners and sending contact reports saying "sell me ur pteri mp cuz itz lyk in ur shop and i want to bye it omgomgomg!!!1!!!!shift1!!!"
This is not a bad idea.
EDIT: Also, if you don't have enough items that you want to store in your gallery to make your current shop into a gallery, it probably will not cost that much to expand it to the necessary size.

When are they going to change it? I still see lots of 100,000 items

Everyone should go check their shops. I just happened to notice that I had a balance in my til and I thought, "what the heck? I don't have anything to sell there because I'm transferring things out of my shop (former gallery) to my sdb." Well one of my most expensive items got sold because all my 100000 items got changed to 10000!
Someone got a deal on one of my unbuyables because of this. Luckily it was just one item.....

Youch, pengo!
Fortunately, my only current unbuyable in my shop is a PPT for 133,700 -- if it gets knocked down to 13,370 and bought, I'll be quite pleased. (In the meantime, I'm keeping it unbuyable as long as possible, just because.)

Oh well that will teach me to not move things a little quicker and at least I only lost one item!
Anyone else get hit with this? I still see a number of things marked higher so I don't know why all my stuff got lowered. It was only the items marked as 100000. My 99k things didn't lose 0's. Strange.....

no, I mean that the 100,000 and up prices are still there. Maybe it's just for me.

eh, it makes a nice change to see somones shop that has a few (read: a few!) items that arent for trade, those elusive petpets or plushies that are advertised as for sale, but require a mail for them to be put into the trading post for example, or the occassional "yay" item.
and i find it mildly offensive that you use the Avatar of the great lord Setekh as your. err. avatar.
(not really, just wondering who knew where it came from)

I echo all the thanks goodnesses. Fairly regularly, I see people on the boards asking things like whether someone will sell them a krawk petpet for 99,999 since they can't buy the ones priced at 100k. And some of them are remarkably stubborn when you try to explain these people are using their shops as galleries ("But then they would just make a gallery"). And I can hardly blame them; If I'd just joined, I'd find that confusing.

Oh, you mean Set, Seth, Sutek, Seti, Suti, Setesh, Set-Hen, Smai, Suetekh, ect.? Yes, I know where it comes from >_> (My college thesis is on Egyptian Mythology, after all.) Set and the petpet in my avatar were discussed a while ago, in the last unrealeased thread. And Neopets knows where it comes from, as they called it a Seti
I'm very happy that people will now stop trying to get me to sell them things from my Anubis gallery. One shop, one gallery, suits me just fine. Hmm, I need to start raising the price my Pink Poogle Toys . . .

good good
the only thing in my shop/gallery isnt worth what its priced at.
if some tool wants to buy 100 heart shaped sand sculptures at 100k each i say go for it.
edit: hey whatdoya know, id moved them to a gallery some time ago

Sooo... when are the unbuyable items returning? I only had a PPT in my shop for 133700, but it's disappeared and though the notice says it will be 'put back into your shop stock shortly', I haven't seen it around for quite some time now. Of course a PPT isn't worth much, but I can imagine that people who had really expensive things in their shop getting a bit worried now...

Hmm. Mine is still there -- I have to add/remove shop items to control which page of my shop stock it's on, so that I can price other items.
TNT might be making changes within Shop Wiz lines -- my account (same username as here) is in the h/u/7 lin -- but frankly it sounds more like "Glitch happens." (Also a worrisome thought for those with true unbuyables in their shops.)
Last I did a Wiz search for PPTs priced at least 133,700, it seemed every line still had at least a page's worth. I won't claim I made sure I'd seen all 13 lines, but I saw several, & the JubJub never reported failure as he'd have to if the line he was on didn't have anything unbuyably priced anymore.
