It probably is...that or a lot of people still duping items and forcing the economy to sink in on itself >>;
Honestly, TNT should just grind the site to a halt for a couple of days and fix this mess properly. Otherwise, we could see a repeat of this mess just like the constant ebb and flow of AB'ers.

I don't think that items are still being duped. However, we really have no idea just how many "non-flashy" items were duplicated. "Non-flashy" meaning things like codestones and map pieces. Those items that TNT might not bother with tracking down. I know I saw thousands of duped secret lab map pieces in shops the night that this occurred. My guess is that there are thousands of codestones as well.
I bet anything that a lot those people who got those "non-flashy" duped items stashed them in their SDBs and are now bringing them out to sell. Prices are also low because of the "fear of buying" that is still going on. I know that I am not buying any map pieces or codestones for awhile. No matter how cheap they are on the shop wiz. My guess is that others feel the same. If people aren't buying, prices will drop.
And, all of this is combined with the fact that prices of codestones and map pieces were dropping prior to the duping thing--as is always the case after a war.

Just an FYI, re: things like codestones, lab map pieces, etc. - the normal kind of things many of us regularly search for/buy: there apparently are still dupes out there. I was doing my normal "lurk" on the BD chat late last night (insomnia's gotta be good for something!) and at least 5 people were frozen after buying "normal" things from the shop wiz.
Now, I don't agree with this way of dealing with the duping issue in the least. It's completely unfair, radical and punishing people who, once again, are innocent.
There's alot of people who're now sweating because they thought they'd "sniped" some less expensive map pieces or codestones. The tp is going to asplode soon from the sheer number of TNT trades if everyone who's worried puts them all in a trade and writes to support. It's also that much more work for staff, and right now I wouldn't want to be in their shoes.
I don't know what the answer is. I note from another topic that the site's down or running super slow. I don't know if they've got people going around looking for items, going through the tp and if that's got anything to do with the down/slow thing. I wish they would take the site down and do a sweep. It should have been taken down as soon as this became known. I think alot of people would have been spared being frozen for:
"This account was found to have knowingly abused a glitch which provided an unfair advantage over other players."
Yes, as we've seen here on our own forum there are people who knew or found out pretty quickly that the big items should not be used/sold/stashed/hidden - that's knowingly abusing a glitch. And as a staff member posted on the premium board yesterday, This isn't over for the people who did this or are involved with the pricy items. So don't think for a minute that just because you or someone you know traded/bought/was given something big and it's been used, "hidden" in an sdb or another account and isn't iced yet that it won't happen.
There's more people who would never jeopardize their accounts, they were given something or traded/bought from auctions not knowing, especially in the beginning - and many of them did try to get TNT to get rid of the item. Instead they were frozen - and getting letters saying they won't get their accounts back.
At this point, just buying codestones so you can train your pet, buying some faeries to bless your pet with abilities or buying some map pieces so you can get the lab ray apparently can still get you frozen? Umm .... NO, that is not abusing a glitch and these people don't deserve to be iced.
I really really really hope they find who did this. There's been discussion and argument that a) they won't be found; b) they can't be found; c) even if they are, nothing will happen except freezing/IP ban. Personally, I want the person or persons who did this and the ones who made? a duping "program" complete with hidden keylogger (honor amongst thieves anyone?) caught and prosecuted. Yes, it's "just" a game - it's also a business and this has got to be costing time and money in staff trying to get things gone and track down who did this; also, how many people have been iced or otherwise disrupted because of this (heck I won't even buy omelettes - those were duped!) ... and there's also my own paranoid mindset. If someone has the time and knowledge to pull something like this on a game site and it works, what's to stop them from thinking, hmmm well it worked there. Let me see if it'll work or what I can do on insert name of real life/real money/personal information site here.

Yup all of that is true, especially if it was a non-US person. Proxies and so forth make you pretty untrackable and certainly hard to prove it was you. Also I wouldn't be surprised if the operation was undertaken from hacked accounts - that's what I suspected as soon as I found out it was supposedly old accounts that had done it - which would mean older IPs that accessed it were unconnected with the new ones through a proxy.
I can't believe people are still getting frozen and I am very disappointed that tnt didn't do a roll back. Sure it would have caused disruption but not as much as has happened anyway. I can't even train my pet or buy anything on the wiz at all! I am very not amused :/
Thanks for the notice though, I was considering starting to buy codestones again today.

Hmmm I kind of noticed this whole duping business late... but I make money getting cheap codestones and labmaps from the shopwiz. I've been doing so for the last few days too, guess it's not really worth to stop now. I just hope I won't be among the people that supposedly abused the glitch because I have bought lots of codestones last days (as I always do)... *crosses fingers*
I must say that I didn't find any too-good-to-be-true deals. The only thing I noticed was an overall price drop of the main codestone and of the labmap of several hundred nps. Knowing how much codestones and labmaps there are out there, there must have been duped a LOT of them to cause such a big price deflation...
Sun Jul 31, 2005 1:28 am
I'm worrying now because I've just saved up for enough for the lab map and now all this duping is going on, I'm afraid to buy one! Are the items going to remain deflated and am I putting my account at risk to buy the map now the main scare's over?
Sun Jul 31, 2005 1:49 am
Twinkle, I'm not sure what to tell you. Me? I'd wait, collect the interest on the lab map funds for a few more days.
Yes, in general codestones are a little less expensive (post-war they usually are), lab map pieces should be more or less stable price-wise, shouldn't they? Part of the problem I'm seeing from reading is that the duped items aren't necessarily being sold really "cheap" anymore.
Someone bought a baby pb for around 585K - and it turned out to be a dupe! Yes, the buyer was frozen

Don't know about the seller.
As I said, I don't agree one bit with this freeze anyone who buys or is given something that turns out to be duped. I think it's totally unfair, and it will cause more work for staff having to handle alot of extra emails.
Oh, lastly - if you hadn't done this just as a kind of precaution until this IS over (whenever that is) - go to site preferences and block everything. Some people hadn't blocked their nf requests - and a few got sent duped items. All someone has to do is request to be your nf, whether or not you accept they can send you things.

That really should be changed
When do yall predict it'll be safe to start buying things again? I just need like 100k more and I can afford to borrow a FQD, but since it was one of the *majorly* duped items I really don't want to take chances.

Guys, they won't do anything about the frozen accts, be it correct or wrong. It's just the way it is. Unless you happen to be friends or relatives of the staff in Neopets.
smurf happens. It's a free game and when you create an acct, you are essentially already agreeing that they can do whatever they feel is right for them to do.
I know this sucks. But hey, to them, you have a options. Either you create another acct and start over, OR you drop playing completely. They have "enough" players out there, they have money coming in in the millions.
We and our free accts.... they are expendable already.
It's fact.
Let's face it

Actually, that is not true. I know of a few people who have already been unfrozen and several more who were given letters of warning when the duped item was removed from their account. You really should not say such things unless you have actual proof.

My question has to be... where is Adam in all of this?

i'm so scared! i have had three neofriend requests today alone, and i don't know any of them! i never, EVER get them. When i looked them up, one was frozen.
i also just bought 70 faeries for cash purposes... i'm starting to get alittle scared... though i haven't had any problems yet...

Well, untill I'm certian that all the dupes have been removed, and that the chaos has stopped, Flyer is getting ZILCH training for the next war. -.-'

People have been saying this about neofriend requests lately and I'm very confused by it. I thought that they eliminated the need to be a neofriend to send items a long time ago. I have certainly been sending things (legitimate things) to non-neofriends for a long time.
