Well because a baby fish can be a little fish or in an egg, just like a baby bird can be a little bird (lenny) or in an egg (pteri) and a frog can be a little frog (quiggle) or a tadpole (nimmo).

I'm really confused as to all the fuss over this, it's not like the old baby nimmo had been released and anyone has had one of their pets change drastically

I personally see an orange Cat in the Hat without a hat, or one of those things from 'Oh the places you will go'
