Woah woah woah. Jumping the gun a bit? There is nothing to suggest that these pets will be Premium only. "Not available to all members" probably means that they will be limited, like Cybunnies and Poogles.

Anyway, I don't think some of them deserve to be pets. A lot of them are way to similar to pre-existing pets. Even the Editorial question commented on how the ... whatever... looks like a Kougra ( and I really hate when people say "bla bla bla, since the Kougra is ugly now"... I wish they wouldn't state that like it was fact). And then there was that Pteri-look-a-like, and I just don't want to see a bunch of pets that look like pre-existing pets.

I agree 100%. I happen to have a Pirate Kougra as my one and only permanent Neopet and was fairly offended by that

I say they hold a poll, pick the top 3 pets out of all of them, make the top choice available to everyone, and the second ones available from some other means such as an item, limited edition, contest prize or lab zap. If they want to take a fourth choice and make it a premium pet, fine by me... I'll get over it eventually

Ditto. I'd take a varwolf over the kougra any day, but I wouldn't want this unique opportunity to be ruined by simply adding in upgraded clones of other pets. The armadillo thing, the name escapes me, which may be similar to the bori in theory, is practically nothing like it in the final result. As much as I'd kill for a lamameeah, I think the pets that would add the most diversity to the site would be the: armadillo thingy, nikondrak, xayxay, and soreen. The rest are either too unrefined, or too similar to existing species no matter how well drawn. I really do hope that when/if we get a vote, people would be just a tad bit more thoughtful. As far as I remember we've only been promised one other pet outside of the lutari. One, which is rumoured to be uncute, but who knows what that means to TNT considering the "uncute" ruki.

Maybe some of the similar-looking ones will just have potions to morph certain neopets (those that look like them) into them?

I quite like that idea...you could be able to get a sharkaw if you have a kougra already or a polaflint if you have say a wocky already or something. Then you'd just need the one morphing potion to do them all and once they've been morphed you could still have different colours for them.

But I have a feeling they'l just choose a specific number, eg 1, 2 or 3 of the april fools pets, and make them limited edition like cybunnies. Which would be alright because if any of these pets are released the demand is going to be way to high to be satisfied by a krawk/draik arrangement. And then the ones not chosen could be released as new *cheap please* petpets Seeing as they only need "tweaked" it shouldn't take away too much time from future and present pets and I'm sure a lot of people would rather a revamp was delayed a wee bit if it meant they got a nikondrack, hee.

I'd like to see the polaflint (well dur) released and the nikondrack too for all who have been patiently waiting for a non cute pet =)

It wouldn't be so bad if only Premium accounts could create them, as long as they could then turn around and drop them in the pound for other people to adopt.

I just had a funny thought. I could have a premium account and be like a pet breeder, creating the max amount of "Premium Pet X" and dropping them in the pound at a week old.

Y'ever seen show dogs' names? They're all "Lakeland's Furry Terror" or "Lakeland's Cujo MacDeathbloodterror" where the kennel's name preceeds the dog's name. I would name all my "Premium Pet X" to be abandoned Fluffy_Kess, Dragonfire_Kess, Spider_Kess etc etc so everyone would know I made 'em. Muauahahahahaha. Thus stroking my already-huge ego.

Okay maybe I wouldn't but it's a funny idea.

As a Premium member, I can honestly say I would not complain if they made those pets available to Premiums only. I suppose that makes me a bad person.

But I don't think you guys have anything to worry about. TNT is being very careful not to give Premiums any really unfair advantages. I think they're afraid of facing the subsequent outrage.

I don't think that TNT would make it Premium only, but they're completely in their rights to do so Funny thing is, people complain that Premium doesn't have enough benefits, yet whenever there's the slight chance that TNT might add an advantage to make it worthwhile, people explode.

I don't think that's a problem with the users, it's a problem with the concept of Premium itself. When a site that used to be totally free starts charging for "Premium" features they have to walk a fine line: enough features to make it worth paying whatever they're charging, but not so many that it smurf all the free players off, making them leave and find another, still-free website. Taunting the masses with cool things they can't have is not going to increase player satisfaction.

I really don't see how they can have Premium-only pets though. What happens if you decide to stop paying for Premium, your Premium-only pets disappear? That's a good way to smurf everyone off, even the Premium players.

Im personally hoping the new pets are a verterans reward system. (all you dudes who got frozen and had to restart can now yell at me). But TNT has nothing to honor those who have been with them for 3 years... 4 years... even 5 years. They should make it so that some of the pets are adpotable only by accounts that a 5 years old, some ares 4s, some are threes(the monkey one ) ect...

Can you give us any clues on who will be able to get them? Will they be limited edition or will you have to do somthing like sign up for somthing? E.g Mobile service

I dont want to give too much away but it wont be anything that requires anything outside the site. We are thinking more along the lines of rewarding loyal players, but not just time-based.

If you stopped to think about it, it would have been pretty obvious that it wouldn't work for it to be a premium only thing, even without Donna's reassurance. As pointed out above, a premium member could just abandon the special pet, and make it available for all. People who have friends with premium could get them to transfer a special pet, some stupid people would try to charge neopoints in order to transfer a special pet to them, etc. And the thought of these pets being un-abandonable [what a word] wouldn't work very well, what if the premium member got tired of the pet? It would mean having to bring forth a whole new concept, pet euthanisation so that it couldn't get picked up by non premium.

I am a premium member, and it makes me sad to see all the non premiums of PPT blackpaint everything like this. It seems to me that it pops up all over the place, variations of 'oh, it's probably premium only', or 'if they make this premium only, I'll be very unhappy', etc. Why? Considering the very small difference between premium and non premium today, why are you all so gloomy about the future? Yes, I realise a lot of you have been disappointed by TNT decisions in the past, but they have handled the whole premium thing very well so far, so give them some credit where credit is due. Until they do make something premium only that you consider to be howlingly unfair, please don't blackpaint the feature and make those of us who do have premium feel like scum who get unfair privilidges.
