I have never attempted to gain anything from the referral system before. It seems plain impossible.

50 refs for a basic? I can understand 50 for a rare one...100, though?
Yeeeeeeeesh. I have 5...well 3, 2 never confirmed and I lost contact with them. But, did anyone have a sliver of brains in thinking about this matter? You can buy a basic brush for under 100k, under 50k in most consequences.

Since, I put on a banner people a "LOT" of ppl from my skool, have been making accounts and activating them! IT's awesome

I would advertise my account at school, but well, Neopets + An all doods school does not make for a very good appearance. Everyone (well not everyone. Most people) see it as babyish.
But I agree, 50 referrals seems hardly worth it for just a basic paint-brush

Are we sure that by basic, they are excluding colors like yellow, pink, brown, etc? It sounds to me that the way they worded the prize for 100 referrals, "a MEGA RARE randomly selected exotic coloured Paint Brush!!!", wouldn't fit on for example a brown paint brush. It's not exotic in the way a Lost Desert or Stone paint brush is.
I'm at 13, I guess I'll get another 5 dubloon coin at 25 now. Oh well. I began to pimp my link everywhere before Christmas, asking friends to sign up instead of giving a small present because I knew they were revamping the prizes and it'd most likely get harder. A bunch of my friends worked hard to get their 10 referrals and a paint brush too, in fear that it would change soon. So this wasn't unexpected, it was warned in the editorial.

Click on the Link to us in the bottom left.
If one of your referrals gets frozen, it gets deducted from your total, so does that mean if you get 100, and someone gets frozen, then you get another, you get another paintbrush?

Insanity.
Anyone who tries for this will somehow down the line get in trouble for spamming non-neo sites I would guess.
100 is insane, I never even got the 10 referrals for the start.

You know, that's not a bad idea... Not saying I'd do it or anything, but I'm guessing that some people might. What's the point of deducting frozen accounts from your score anyway?

Guys, before you complain about how difficult getting to 50 or 100 will be, you have to remember why neo did this referral thing in the first place: to thank you for getting others to join. You can't just expect paintbrushes to fall into your lap just because you told ten people "click this link and sign up" when most likely they won't do a damn thing with the account. There are much easier/faster ways to get yourself a paintbrush, and with those ways you can pick which pb you want. I say you just slap a link in your sigs and profiles of other sites you've joined and hope for a few free np every now and then.

Yeah, they did it to get people to refer their friends. Now it seems the object is to get people to spam as many people as they can to get those "cool items" (without spamming, of course ), so more and more members can join their site.

I used to have like 20 referrals on one account because whenever I decided I wanted a new account, I'd say my old one referred me. The paintbrush I got was a checkered one, which I used on a gelert, in an account that was hacked...
