I know that seals don't really have fur as much as they do skin, but I do think that the Maraquan Lupe should have more texturing. Like, some shine here and there. Maybe more shading on the belly so as not to give off a "flat" look...

Thank-you Laelya! That's exactly what I meant.

When I first saw that I thought they had redrawn the tuskaninny or something. The lineart of it is ok, but the shading is very flat and blah. It should have more shading or spots or something like everyone else is saying.

Hmm, I like the lupe, although it is a bit plain. It is good, but not like the maraquan shoyru and it makes you go "I need that pet!"
Wed Mar 30, 2005 1:51 am
The Maraquan Lupe should remain as is. Speaking from an artist's background, if the paintbrush didn't leave such a burning hole in my bank account, it'd certainly be a pet I'd consider getting. So it's NOT fancy like the other Maraquan pets, so what? Something's gotta be simple for once in that PB's history of use.
What bothers me is they're moving so fast into other paintbrush colours that they're forgetting Lupes and other species' poses could use touch-ups here and there, especially battledome poses (Hit, Defensive, etc). Mutant Lupe, Skunk/Purple Kougra, some of the other Quiggles...that sorta thing.

Laelya, your version is fantastic. It's still simple, it just looks more like a seal. The current version is just so drab.

Well I don't think we are expecting it to be hot pink with large fins and bells on it. The concept and drawing itself are perfect, but the colouring is just so bland. They could keep it natural and still have made it a bit more... exciting. Laelya's version shows something that they could have done. Just something a little more that would make it that much better (though I still think it's one of the best).

I don't think it's bland, i think it's simple, and i don't think that is a bad thing.

so why do all maraquan pets have to LOOK like a real life animal species? what ever happened to the original maraquan pet that kept the same body shape but added aquatic features? like the first pets... the aisha... the acara.... chomby....krawk.... and the latest ones are a shoyru turtle.... a seal lupe.. shark grarrl....whale elephante... i really liked the original style better.

*loves the maraquan acara best*

I really like the new style

. Allows them to have extra pets without needed extra pets. They should make a bori(or mayby ruki) clam and chia jellyfish

. The eyrie could turn into a seagul and the lenny could be turned into a duck

. Bruce, koi, ketsam and tuskany are already all water pets-dont see them being changed. Not sure about the other guys.

Mmm *nods*
I guess we haven't seen a pet that combines those elements for a while. Agreed there, TWW.
I guess there can only be one "creature from the black lagoon' type pet. The Acara definitely took that to the next level

The Chomby resembles the Nessie, the Krawk reminds me of Lake Placid (for some strange reason), Aisha is based on the myths of mermaids...
...The Gelert could be based upon the Barghest legend from Northern England...but that's a land-dweller more than underwater...
...Zshar-ptitsa...no, there's already a Fire PB for that >>;
^^; Just some ideas, I guess...

Thats "TWW."

If your going to shorten my name to a few letters, at least give it 3
the chomby is definetely nessie, but i dont think the aisha is based off of mermaids.... it even has feet still

and the acara has just been tentical-ized.... im HOPING its not the lagoon pet, because im REALLY awaiting a creature of the black lagoon nimmo.... hey, i should just draw one! *runs off to sketch* yeah.... lagoon nimmo. sweet.

*adds a T to TWW* Apologies for that ^^;
Aishas seem a little between Sirens and Mermaids to me, but that's just me. Hmm...pity they've already done the Gelert and Lupe...the Barghest-like pet would look very cool.
Best let this get back on-topic. Gomen ^^;

I know it has been released... but the JubJub scares the hell out of me.
I have a heart condition, and so have seen lots and lots of presentations on 'blue' hearts and what happens in a heart surgery. It reminds me of all of those pictures
For example:
It is just freaky.
