Would I be correct to assume that it isn't necessary to buy wands for Mipsy?
I mean she always uses Astral Maelstorm not her melee attack.
I'm just starting evil and I'm kinda short on gold lookin for the cheap way to go.

I would recommend Shockwave, it's a really useful stunning skill.

Personally, I've never done, but since I'm on InSaNe, I might have to :P
It makes sense though, since buying a new wand only increases the melee attack strength. Plus, hopefully you'll be picking up some enchanted weapons from the monsters along the way. As long as Mipsy is only using her magic, I'd say its okay to be cheap :P

The great point in evil is that you can get several weapons from fighting MONSTERS, I've earned A LOT by that, and I'm very overflowed with money, i have nothing to do with it :P

Actually It's not hard at all, I beat them at level 46, and it was a very easy fight, always when it was Velm's turn - Panacea and once the Shielding thingy, Mipsy always Obliterate and once the protection thingy, and Rohane - Always ATTACH, no potions needed for me :)

Actually, the wand still matters, if you would use Astral Maelstrom with the starting wand, then I could bet you couldn't even get the normal 64 damage to enemies in Faerieland.

rohane has beaten 7 skeletons and still no potion for me

I didn't find evil all that evil...you don't get as many potions, but at least you have an idea of how hard the monsters and bosses are and can plan accordingly.

Oh so THAT's why I've had to resort to walking back and forth trying to heal 6hp after ever battle instead of using up a precious healing potion. =P

If you're having trouble with them, just level up a bit more. 46-47 are good levels. Also, try to take them out one at a time, and not all at once.

I'm having the exact same problem. Evil has been a walk in the park since I got Mipsy, but I've had to flee from the faeries three times now. I'm wandering around and around trying to level up a little :(

I always killed the Faeries left-to-right: Dark, Fire, Water, Earth. Water is annoying because she heals, but Dark and Fire (Mez and Obliterate) are the really dangerous ones.

If you have the gold to burn, try buying a bunch of slowing potions from the guy by the Brain Tree and toss 'em at the Faeries (as well as hasting yourself). It takes quite a few turns at the beginning and you'll go though quite a lot of potions but it seemed to make a big difference.

^^ I did, since I had a ton of gold lying around. Once I was at level 46 all of a sudden I had no problems. Strange

I follow this too. I don't mind the healing because by that time in the game, you should be easily dealing over 150 damage in lump attacks(Rohane+Talinia+Mipsy).

I took out Fire before Dark, since she's got fewer HP and is the easiest to kill. [I think anyway]

Still not at the Esophagor yet, I've been slacking off. :(

Edited to update: About to enter Cumulonimbus and go against the Devilpuss. I'm getting closer and closer to that prize... who wants to bet I'll end up getting Tooth of Terask :[

I'm about to attempt InSaNe difficulty and I was wondering if there were any major strategy differences between that and evil/normal.
Any other tips for InSaNe?

Don't get lazy!

Really the only difference is you might have to be slower and more cautious so you don't die. The enemies will be tougher, but the rewards will be better (ie more weapons are dropped by enemies).

The best advice I have is don't get lazy! I was near the end of chapter 2 on insane and having an easy time beating up minor enemies because I had been going really slow earlier. I was absentmindedly clicking through a battle when I decided to check on my party, make sure they didn't need healing, I scrolled down and was horrified to discover that the last move had been this minor enemy's finishing blow to Rohane, and that the rest of my party had been knocked out prior. It was game over for me after investing a ton of time and energy into it. I was so frustrated that I restarted on normal to restore confidence in myself. So don't let that happen to you, yes it make take more energy to pay attention, but if you drift for 5 minutes of idle clicking, you could end up dead.

^^ I'll keep that in mind too, for when I begin again.

In the Faerie City now, about to face the Fallen Angel for the second time :)
