Goodness, that's a brilliant idea... I've been trying to get my grubby paws on some older items, but they're so outrageously priced that I won't be able to afford them for several years.

Me likes. Me will also contact TNT. Me will also stop refering to myself as "me."

No, I just meant that one particularly awkward reply. Of course the idea is brilliant - it's mine ;)

Kudos to shapu for yet another great idea!!!! And, Kuri's addition makes the whole thing work perfectly. As a plushie collector, I can't believe the increase in prices since I first started my collection. A rarity 98 plushie that I paid 200K a year ago is now 3.5 million--because there aren't any around in active accounts. My guess is that most of them are stuck in a few autobuyer's frozen accounts. Your idea would make prices reasonable once again.

However, I don't think a 18 month waiting period is necessary. I like 12 months. And, even less time for those who are repeat offenders--the guys with the autobuyers who are frozen and then come back on another account, autobuy and are frozen again, and on and on. I am sure their IP addresses are in bold red colors on a staffer's list somewhere.

I will write Neopets straightaway and ask them to look into instituting this.

Donna, there is this well thought out plan someone has came up with at PinkPoogleToy's Forums. She has proposed an excellent idea to deal with inflation of R.98 to R.180 Items. Here is a link to that thread:

Please read it and consider it!

Just Copy/Paste and Send :)

silly slime lord, Shapu is a guy :P

great idea btw, i could write some really long and boring post, but i wont ;)

Ssh, the less he knows what happened to him last night is all the better. He just hasn't realized everything yet... :o

But yes, everyone who reads and agree with this MUST mail them from Editorial, Ideas/Suggetions and that other one through Help. Splendid idea and fair to all :)

Of course, that means one of us could get a Lupes Claw and another a Darigan PB, and yet another one a Dung Catapult. The pleasures...

I think just getting the items as a random event in a particular week or month would work better, and they would occur as many times as there are frozen items- Then, it would be guaranteed that the items would have a "home", so to speak- also, TNT would change that week every year and not tell any of the users which week the items would be given out.

...But aside from arbitrarily giving the items out with full notice, I think it's an excellent idea.

And here I thought I'd just had too much moonshine...

To be honest, I don't too much care about the final implementation. My only concern was that somebody would become a plushie collector and then do something stupid and get frozen, thus costing neopians all over their chances at getting that white techo doll they'd been looking for. Or whatever.

I see this actually as having a corrollary in the real world - when somebody dies, or is imprisoned, their belongings are passed on to other members of that person's society, through one mechanism or another (inheritance, sales by the state to cover debts, whatever).

Neopia, however, is treated like ancient Egypt or Ur, where the citizenry is buried with its possessions. I just don't really like that, so here we go.

I love this idea! It could also work to have the items restock in shops or be cycled as random events/ wheel events to prevent items from going to inactive accounts. If the items that are restocked are bought by a cheater, they still get resold to an active account or recycled again when the cheater is frozen.

I think it's a great idea, for the good of all Neopians... (but mostly because I'm greedy and the thought of being given rare items... woo!)

Hmmm, I can see it now. I get the neomail... go to collect my prize and, "Congratulations! You got a Strawberry Jelly!"

Noo... you'd get a pile of Dung. If they gave out Jelly, that would be admitting there was a Jelly World, and we all know there's no such thing.

My goodness, shapu, what insight you have. I would have never thought of that in a million years, yet it makes such perfect sense. Ever thought about an exec position at Neopets--cause they could really use your brain.

And, being the plushie collector that I am, a shadow usul plushie sitting in someone's frozen account would look so, so nice in my gallery *cough*hope there are TNT lurkers*cough* ;)

Despite the fact that the market is so overflowing with jelly that is only costs you 1 np to buy... but then again, you're not REALLY getting anything, so you're being ripped off.

Here's the thing though - I'm sure users would get jelly, simply because there'd be more jelly or dung out there than h4000 helmets. But then, free dung isn't bad - what if you're a dung collector?

Think of how many items would come back into circulation...

The Scarabs from the first War
Rod of the Air Faerie/Air Faerie's Fan/Rod of (Dark/Other) Nova,etc.etc.

Countless items of retired and sacraticity would come back, and so many items would drop drastically in value, that everyone would have a fair chance since we all know there are SO many Jade Scorchstones and Tears in frozen accounts that aren't being unlocked...*sigh*

Tue Jan 18, 2005 11:38 pm

I like your idea, but those uber rich accounts have uber rare items. I dont think handing them out to random people is a good idea. I mean, handing out something that is worth no more than 100k might be good, I just think that there will be too many "rags to riches" accounts.

Perhaps with the higher rarity items, you would have them stock in the smugglers cove?

Tue Jan 18, 2005 11:53 pm

Wow Shapu, that is a great idea. One thing that ticks me off about frozen accounts is the loss of items. Someone could be frozen for abing, but have gotten tons of rares, and the rares will just sit in iceland.
