I love this show mostly because it deals with people my age, but also because i grew up in Toronto (where this show is) and it looks familiar, its cool to be like "omg, i was there, where they are standing".

Hmm... my parents cancelled Noggin and stuff like that cuz it costed about 13 bucks extra on the bill. XP I watched like 5 mins of that show so I don't know anything about it. XP

My dad hits me
I'm bipolar
My girlfriend left me
My band is screwed
My band doesnt like my old gf who is now my new gf
My dad died

The list goes on and on. And I know they can't have 200 actors to do each episode, just saying...

I do agree that the show is a bit contrived... That being said, every single one of those things mentioned in that list happened to my group of friend's during high school and I suppose it is filling a gap.

Personally, I enjoyed the old '80s episodes. Now those were quite a sight. So many classics, like the infamous pregnancy one, rivaled only by the training bra season finale.

Degrassi, itself is showing youth audiences what happens behind closed curtains. Think it isn't happening at your high school? Take a better look. A year ago I would've said the exact same thing as Jen, but when you get into the thick of it. The show covers everything and covers it well. Just because it didn't happen to someone you know, does not mean it never happened.

Sure, you may not of had the baby and the abortion, but someone else did. less than a week ago, here, in Brampton, of all places. Two kids were stabbed and a teacher was shot(at school). Heck, I've had some of those things Jen listed happen to me, and I've seen it a lot around school too.

Coming2atvnearu does have a point though, the show does circle around the lives of a select group of people. Seemingly, misery does follow them everywhere they go.

An interesting note: The episode where Rick shoots the one guy and dies himself, they wern't sure how to portray that since it is such a volatile subject. I personally think they did a good job though. They managed not to glorify the victim, or Rick. It gave us a scenario and left us with our own opinions. Go them.

Oh I know the stuff happens.
Until last month I thought the school shooting thing was something that happens maybe 1 time every 10 years. Then in this past month there was where the teacher got shot by her husband in the school parking lot. About 6 days earlier a guy came to school with a Wish List which was actually a death list. I mean, my god, Mrs. Candir used to be my teacher.
Of the things I mentioned, some of the things have happened to me too, but its just hard to believe (for me anyways) that with everyone its just like a bam your pregnant, bam your not, bam something else. And it just keeps going and going. That was kind of a pointless point to make in the first place, since they are all connected. Sorry bout that...

Great show, anything that can happen does happen. Can't beleive we have to wait till January though. Grrr.

No offence but I call it the freaky Canadian show, as it covers some of the subjects that regular "teenage" show never covers, *applauds to the Canadians* finally some peoples that aren't afraid to show "real" teenage problems on a teenage show; you don't see Lizzie Mcguire getting hit by her dad or anything.

It's good enough to show on AFN (American Armed Forces Network(I live in Germany)). I don't think they even censor it on AFN I've seen some intense episodes. The show keeps me going during the week, Weds, 9-10pm double episodes over here in Germany.

Go Canada!

I have to wait until Feb. for the new shows. So, lucky you. And all you people in Canada are lucky too! I wish I could see all the eps they don't show here in the US.

But, no worries. It's all good. Degrassi is on DVD now, well, at least the first season. But I'm sure the others will be out soon enough. So, I'll just have to wait for those. ^-^

Go Canada for going where no teenage show has gone before!

What do you think of JT? Dude, he's like perverted beond comprention, dude in every episode he's ether trying not to get beat up or trying to score, he's like Bevis and Butthead all in one but somewhat smarter.

Eh, never really bothered to watch it and I'm not even sure if I have Noggin or not.

Is it really any good though? O_o

It's awesome but it's one of those shows you don't watch with your family because dealing on how your parents are, they might just start are conversation or give you a speech on what you watched because it covers many of those, need to to talk about teen issues (ex: sex)

I liked the older ones when JT wasn't such a sicko. When he was just his funny self. I also don't like the way Manny has changed. Her character was such a sweet girl and now she's a...well...yea. But, I guess that's all part of character development, eh?

Yea, but I'm sometimes like JT, but I don't pursuit with everything that pops into my head.
