Is Labbing worth the NP?

Sat Dec 11, 2004 3:23 am

Well, is it? I can't tell.

Sat Dec 11, 2004 3:27 am

You better believe it!! :D I've got back 1/3 of the cost of paint brushes and codestones and all of that just in the lab in about a month or so (about 200k in changes so far :) ) So yes, if I was you, I'd do it ;)

Oh heck yeah it is. I bought my lab for 250k (back when it was that much). I must've gotten like 100k in training and over 2,000,000 in colors (mainly due to Darigan). So... BUY IT!!! XP

It's definantly worth it, I doubt I would have been able to beat any of the challangers in the war past the first one, if I hadn't been zapping my pet for a while now.

Also, I've gotten a few avatars from it too, like the one with grey pets, and the pwnd by the lab ray one

im an unlucky guy, so its not worth it for me :(

I think it is, plus it's always fun to see what you get every day!

Ive only had it two days and it lost 2 defence points but raised it 4 levels so you work it out you have good and bad days im just waiting for it to change species and color of my purple grundo! CMON lol

Right now the price of a full map is about 580K. So, I guess it depends on whether you battle or not, how long you are willing to wait to get the right color for your pet, whether or not you are absolutely set on having a certain species, and whether or not there is more than one color you would be willing to have for your pet (in other words, if you only want a baby acara and nothing else, it probably isn't a good idea--but if you just want a super cool painted pet, then it might be). Plus, the lab can give you colors you can't get from a PB--like robot and jelly.

I don't have a map because I am too impatient to wait forever to get my pet to the color I want--plus I didn't want to change my pet's species and I don't battle. But my daughter and husband loved the map--back when they used to play. And, I benefitted--I got the painted pets they didn't want--pretty much for free--even a plushie elephante--yay, me!

Well, you've convinced me to get one, lol. I can't find any afordable complete sets though, can anyone tell me where to find one?

Edit: Oh well, I don't have enough np to by one. I have around 480k, which is sad because I've been playing for about 3 colective years. Oh well, mabey next year?... ;)

If you're looking for affordable, you shouldn't go looking for a complete set. You can almost always get a lab map piece for cheaper using the Shop Wizard, it just takes more time. Make a 3 by 3 grid using Paint or something, and just start refreshing at the Wiz. Record all the cheapest prices, and compare them to the pieces you need. Eventually you'll wind up with a complete map.

Besides, Trades aren't working properly right now anyway. ;)

It is cheaper to buy them individually off the shop wiz, but more tiresome. There are many complete sets on the TP but theuy sell for a higher price. ANd yes, it is very worth it labbing if you battle, but not if you don't.

It was when I bought it, but now I'm not so sure. People will probably keep saying its worth it to the day it reaches the 2 mill np mark and then some though.

The colors alone are worth it, or if you have an adoption agency. I swear, 1 Fire, 1 tyrannian and 1 faerie does not come cheap! Saves you a ton on avvie pets. The randomness is a bit of a pain, its usally positive (for me anyways) although if you arent an novice battler (like I am :P) I'd go with codestones or neggs instead.

Let me clarify my last post: When I said about 580K for a full set, I did not mean that you should buy a complete set off of the TP--I just meant that doing a shop wiz search, 7 of the pieces go for about 60K each right now and the other two--about 75K each.

Definitely figure out each of the pieces that you need and make a list of them (I give them all nicknames, so I can remember which piece I am thinking off--like right leg of space ship, left leg of spaceship, mountain peak, etc.), then search the shop wiz for the cheapest price.

And, if you happen to see a cheap piece in someone's shop, don't assume that the rest in the shop are also cheap. There are many lab map dealers who will be the cheapest on the wiz for 1 or 2 pieces and then jack the price up for the rest of them. It takes awhile to buy them one by one but is much cheaper in the long run.

Yes, as people have mentioned, the lab is totally worth it. Many people lab for various reasons. Some want cool colors, others want a rare species, and some lab for good BD stats. Myself, I adopt pets from the pound and then lab them until they get good colors and then put them back up for adoption.

Being a former lab map dealer, I can tell you right now that it is in your best interests to buy right now even if you can't buy all the pieces at once. Why? Well, about this time last year, full lab sets were selling for 350k. They go up on average about 10k every couple of weeks. (The actual fluctuation varies, and occasionally the lab prices drop slightly) The lab, to my knowledge, has never dropped more than 20k in total price at any given time. Therefore, if you can purchase even some of the pieces now, you will save yourself a bundle of money later on. No matter what, don't buy from the TP. (Strange coming from me, I know, but I used to give customers the same advice if they asked) Most of those maps are 10-20k over actual shop wiz prices. And if you see a lot that says "whatever k or buy from my shop", don't buy from that shop. The prices there can be as high as 30k over what they're 'asking' for their full map. (And even higher over Wiz price) And like Morning said, don't buy from all one shop. If a shop has all 9 pieces, that shop usually overcharges for at least 5 of the pieces.

Hope that helps. :) If you're really dedicated, try auctions. Map pieces can go for insanely low prices there.
