You know, now that I think about it, the last time I remember having a random event was on Neopets Birthday. I haven't had any REs since then. 
Odd, as everyone else is saying, it's probably just an effect from the down time. Probably in the next week or so things will go back to normal. At least I hope so.

I haven't noticed this, but it might explain my not being able to get any new avatars in the last few days. The only easy av I got was the Cliffhanger one.

Add me to the list of people who haven't gotten any REs since the birthday (I've gotten a couple winter REs at the advent calendar, but nothing anywhere else).

I hadn't even noticed there was a lack of REs going around. Seriously, I think Neo's birthday was the only time I've gotten a RE in the last month - and despite playing all day over their birthday, I still only got 1.
So, if their experiencing problems that are causing a lack of REs, then I guess it's gonna be a while again before I get another one. HeHe.

Count me in. I haven't gotten one since the birthday celebration either. And, that Monday and the several days before it, I must have gotten at least 100--no joke. However, some weren't so nice (King Skarrl's marrow tax) and some were passing Bruce's saying hi.
However, I got one of them (the earthquake) while I was doing quickstock and I lost the three items I was putting into my SDB. Perhaps the glitches could be the reason why all RE's seem to have disappeared right now. Maybe they caused too many lost-item glitches and, in order to fix the problem, they had to temporarily take all of them off the site.
They were fun, though--despite my losses. Because you never knew what you were going to get.

I also have seen 0 RE's now, past my faerie quest that was glitched.
I seriously think we broke something cause of the b-day sidebar. =/ I usually get at least 1 RE daily, usually useless, but a RE nonetheless.
Winter RE's seem normal though.

i never get random events so i didn't notice... seriously i get a random event like once a month

I didn't get any random events either, I wonder what happened to them.

Anyone start getting them again? With the exception of Winter events, I haven't gotten anything since the birthday celebration. This makes NQ a lot less meaningful to play since the REs make it profitable a lot of the time. Also, does anyone know if the Invasion of Meridell and Cellblock avatars are being affected by this since those two are triggered by a type of random event?

I haven't gotten a thing. Not even the useless ones, like:
"A chia shows up and pesters you to provide free advertising to the site by adding a NeoBadge to your page!"
"A Spider crawls all over this page, JUST to annoy you into thinking for a second you got a real RE."
"As if asking you for an unreleased item on quest #35 wasn't bad enough, Illusen pops up and says "I was thinking about giving you a billion neopoints, but I changed my mind."
"A shoyru whizzes by, and he seems to be flying towards Mystery Island. As if you relly give a smurf."
"An Earthquake! Quick, hide under your desk, because your browser is about to crash!"
