Ack! Sorry, huge problems today. We had trouble with our database earlier and have spent most of the day trying to get the site back online. It should be up within a couple of hours, so please bear with us!

Least they hinted what has happened.
Database...was a little off with my "server exploding", but whatever. Glad they're working on it, but I wanna bat that Kacheek. I HATE mutant Kacheeks!

I too am relieved that they've finally given us some sort of update. I can only pray the site will be back up before midnight so I can get at least a little game-playing in.

Morningstar wrote:Yes, didn't they outsource their computer system to a non-Neopets company a few months ago? Back when all of the shop databases were moved. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the company. So, if the system was down, the computer techs would be working on it where this company is situated--not in the Neopets headquarters.

I found my post from a long ago topic when this happened before. It's about the company that TNT outsourced their server operations to:

Neopets Moves to Equinix Data Center

July 15, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Equinix, Inc. (equinix.com), a provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, announced on Wednesday that Neopets, Inc., a global media and entertainment company, has reached an agreement to locate at Equinix Internet Business Exchange data centers, in a move that Equinix says will reduce Neopet's overall network connectivity costs.

Neopets runs the youth phenomenon Neopets.com, an online entertainment site in which members must maintain the health and well-being of their "virtual pets." With more than 77 million registrations (created by an estimated 23-25 million users) and seven billion page views per month in the last four years, Neopets is a quickly growing Web site.

Equinix's aggregation of carriers, ISPs and other network service providers allows content providers to cost-effectively execute strategic connectivity agreements with key business partners within a highly secure and reliable environment.

Through direct interconnection within the same facility, content providers can cut costs as well as the performance degradation associated with linking to multiple partners over great distances, resulting in lower connectivity costs, an improvement in end-user performance and an increase in reliability and redundancy.

At least the bird has finaly flown the coop....Granted it would be kinda cool to somehow be able to get the things we missed from today, but I guess we shouldn't complain if everything is there when we do get back...Amazing how I actually got LESS done in real life today...
