Neo is making me real mad!!!!!!

In the begining neo was made for older people, now it has turned into a kiddy site.. and they have the same anooying rules, you can't do this or that or anthing we don't want you to do... I hope someone would start a real Virtual Pet site out there!

First of all, Neopets isn't kiddy. Are things dying in wars kiddy? No. Is Pikachu being eaten on the cover of the Gallery of Evil (:cry:) kiddy? No. Is the Haunted Woods kiddy? Is.. is.. other stuff kiddy?!

Second of all, Neopets is a real virtual pet site. But, seriously, you go make a website like it and see how good you do.

well, it could be argued that neopets has become increasingly "kiddy". or at least increasing their marketing to kids. adding all these games relating to hilary duff, bratz, hot wheels, etc? putting their merchandise in limited too, claire's, toys r us, mcdonald's happy meals? hardly appealing to the 18 and over crowd... (well, still kinda, but we feel silly about it )

neopets caters to children, thats why we have all these silly rules and filters on the chats, and cutesy merchandise, etc. they know what sells. sure, neopets was originally meant as a site for college students, but everyone knows we're poor! the real buying power comes from the parents of the young ones

it's been almost 5 years and they still don't get the news out on time...

As Medli pointed out, the news is up at irregular times to benefit those in different time zones... such a system is infinitely fairer.

all they do now is make books and furniture and new colors on pet days... woopppoeeee! It's getting annoying!

Erm... what else can they do other than that? Have you any better ideas? IMO, they are trying to make the pet days more interesting with new secret avatars and new games, but there is only so much you can do, you know.

...and the prizes they give out for winning something is so stupid ... like 500np for winning lenny, or 250np to sign up for endless amounts of spam... give us a break, they where giving out the same NP when the Hidden Tower Items where all under 1 million...

Well, you can't blame them for the LC and MP prizes, they wanted to discourage the sharing of answers (thus the creation of the prize pool), but unfortunately there will always be people who want to share answers with others, even at the expense of a lesser np award. *shrugs*

As for the sponsor signing up thingy, I think it is good of them to set the np bonuses so low, so only those really desperate for np would sign up. Imagine if such sponsorship sign-ups gave out thousands of np, everyone would be forced to sign up or they will lose out, and more people will create multiple accounts for the sake earning np from such promotions.

Can someone please tell me why Im still addicted to this anoying badly run mega site?

Seeing how dissatisfied you are with the site, I wonder too what is making you stay on.

Well shoot. I go into Claires all the time...and Toys R Us...and wouldn't you know I have no problem buying McDonald's Happy Meals (And speaking as someone who worked at McDonald's for 3 years, no one that works there is going to look at you strangely or think you're a bad person for being an adult eating happy meals). I'm 22 years old, and I think those things are fun.

I don't think the rules are silly...I'd rather have a site safe for everyone than a "YOU HAVE TO BE AN ADULT TO COME HERE! CUSSING INSIDE!" Psh. *glances up at her bookshelf* I have 10 plushies. I'm a college student. (And by the way, If I remember correctly it was marketed to college AGED adults, not just college students) :/ Yeah, I think it is marketed to kids because of the amount of kids that are on the site...but...I think Adam and Donna realize more than you know how many adults buy the plushies, and the cards (TCG PRIZES YAY!) and the dolls, the list really goes on and on and on...

Ah, neo -do- have their faults, but the news isn't wrong. Just tink, if it came out 12:00am NST every day, people in different countries wouldn't be able to get the mystery prize, lenny conandrum (sp?) etc.

I made this board to prove a point... that we can chat and debate and learn from each other...

In the last last year or so, we can't do that on Neo anymore, I have been frozen 2 times 1 for being on the boards, and one for being in a guild.

Punishing everyone for the mistake of 1 or 2 users is plain WRONG!!!!

And that is my real beef!

I do love Neopets, I just think that they should use freezing more carefully.

i don't mind tnt, i think they have done a pretty good effort and should be given a fair bit of praise of doing as well as they have and are. its not easy with so many reports and stuff, yet the bulk of what gets done is what needs to be done. yes some things aren't perfect, and we point them out, but people don't point out things that go right alot, and sometimes we take it for granted. well not everyone, i generalize here *bad me*

and i think its unfair and hypocritical of me to criticize them for not making deadlines when i always miss the bus.
