Guilds getting deleted for contests?

I can't say that this is true, but the neoboards are going insane, talking about some kind of 'glitch' that deletes any guild with contests or giveaways...


They've even started a protest by the looks of things...


Does anyone have any proof?

It's a shame TNT stopped contests really, because it was yet again those few people that spoil things for others

Most people only join guilds for the contests, so I can see why they would complain if neopets started deleting guilds with contests. But it is against the rules.

I'm wondering whether to just delete my guild. I only just finished the webbie, but I guess an Art Show that gives a prize to the winner, and giving the 5th, 15th, 27th and 40th members gifts is considered contests and giveaways, and a guild isn't really a guild without those sort of things...

The guild I used to be in... had contests. (I actually went there through PPT... way back in the days. Spock_Fan... *sighs* It was fun, until she stopped posting here, and people stopped joining).
Anywho...
The contests were fun. But that wasn't why I was in my guild, my guild was a pound guild. Zap something into a pretty color and then give it up for adoption.
*shrugs* We had a contest once... where you had to pick the pet with the worst name and zap it. *shrugs* I think the winner won a codestone.
We never had big prizes (We were all too broke after buying lab maps)... so yeah.

I agree that a few bad eggs spoil the bunch. And it's very sad indeed if TNT are resorting to such measures. However we don't know how many guilds are actually cheaping out on contests. *Shrugs*

I'd hate to see a guild that had a whole bunch of people in it, and a whole bunch of work put into it... just deleted. *shakes head* Don't like that idea.

Gosh this is stupid, a guild is not a guild without contests or giveaways. Sure, a few conniving and greedy guild owners may decide to withhold promised prizes, but the members can just report them; TNT doesn't need to take such drastic action.

The problem is that there are enough of the "conniving and greedy" types to ruin it for everyone.

If you want to run a guild, and have contests, just have the contest info hosted off-site.

Contests have always been against Neopets rules and depending on what you do and how you do it, the guild can be deleted and people iced. TNT has been enforcing this rule for years but I guess a lot of people aren't aware of it. "Activities" are fine but you better know the rules and what you are doing.

This is silly! Why cant guilds have contests, i can understand neopets banning you from having contests where you 'pay' to enter, like those annoying shops with "Buy a bottle of sand for 1,000np and i will enter you into my contest" but if people arent paying anything, whats the problem? Whats the point of a guild if you cant do anything? Soon they will just ban all users from interacting with each other full stop!

There's also a glitch where you can leave a guild either. I'll try and join one.

EDIT - When I tried to join one, I got a blank page.

Well, I'm kind of glad. They are against the rules, and that is why I am so paranoid to join guilds.

But deleting the whole guild isn't very good.. a warning at first, maybe?
