Like...OMG! That's just....suicide. Major suicide. More than suicide....I'm speechless! That's just so...low! I admit that the very first time I played NQII, I got to the lost desert 28/27/28. And it was HELL! So I restarted....but 3-2 levels less? I-I-I...my god!

Meh, don't worry. You can save yourself. Just level a lot before you move on. You can make it through the Lost Desert just fine, under leveled. I don't recommend moving on underleveled, though. "Better be safe than sorry."

I'm jealous, I got the Staff. :-(

I was too late to weigh in on skill points, but in case it's useful for other posters:

Rohane's Stunning Strikes and Talinia's Slowing Strikes do NOT work against Terask II on Insane.

Talinia's Shockwave DOES work against Terask II on Insane, but not often. (I only got it once in my fight with Terask II.)

Velm's Celestial Hammer DOES work against Terask II on Insane, but it doesn't work terribly well -- you're probably better off just tossing a potion. :-)

I ended up putting two in damage increase to max it out and the last four in magic resistance for Rohane. Mipsy, I put fifteen of the sixteen points in damage sheild, don't think I actually used it in the fight...but I figured if it got that close the few points it caused might make the difference. I did ranged attacks for Talinia as I wasn't certain shockwave worked (I knew slowing strikes didn't), didn't see any difference in attack times when Talina was targeted, but who knows. Velm got all his points put into single heal, and it came in handy a couple of times when just one member needed healing. Rohane did most of the attacking with Talinia following closely behind. Mipsy threw potions 90% of the time, with an occasional casting of obliterate when Terask had his defenses up and potions were likely to be resisted Velm of course kept everybody healed up and cast group shielding when ever it was needed. When he wasn't busy casting, he was also tossing potions. I also had potions from previous acts and when Terask would be resisting, I tossed the lower damage potions, so if they were resisted it wouldn't be a big loss. Plenty of potions does make a big difference in the final fight. :)

If Terak would have missed on his last turn, I would have beat him with all my party having full health. :D

Oi...even my first game I was at level 30 when I entered the Lost Desert.

In case you're wondering, I'm not the Nox's Tower yet...I still have to beat the faeries. I would assume it's best to go on Normal through the tower to lessen the chances of running into four Hands of Nox.

Wow, you mean you normally go on hunting? I always go on normal unless I am in dire need of levels.

I tend to go on hunting, unless I feel that I'm levelled up enough for the next boss. Or if I'm not in the mood for fighting ;)

I'm in the Lost Desert now - managed to beat Silicast, and the next two bosses, and I'm heading for the Hermit now. I might stop soon though, as I'm starting to get tired and light headed ;)

Last time (in my Normal game) I went in the first 4-5 levels on Hunting. It wasn't too hard, but it got annoying after awhile.

I did that too, and I always do. But it gets annoying, so you stop.

Wow Alex, you must be...level 39+ by now! I'm only half way through to level 39, and I'm heading for the Gemstone :D

Actually, I wasn't :P I'm level 39 right now (nearly level 40), and on the first level of the pyramid. I'm aiming to finish Act Three today - I should be able to.

And a question: What does everyone recommend for Velm? Mesmerization, Celestial Hammer, or a mix of both?

Both. I have his mesmerization on level 4, Mislead. I wouldn't max it out, though.

Thu Sep 30, 2004 5:31 am

I'm not planning to max it - Velm is the only one who I didn't sort out all the points previously. I think I'll go for 6 in each, and possibly up that depending on the bonuses of my final weapons.

Question- Which is better for Mipsy- Direct Damage or Group Direct Damage? I tend to try to wittle down the HP of a group, as a whole, instead of one by one, but I'm not sure if that's really the best idea. It does work for me, but then, I'm only in the first act. :P

Yeah, that's a VERY common NeoQuest II debate. If you wanna kill all of them, and don't mind it being slow, go for Group Direct Damage, and the opposite for Direct Damage.
