 Post subject: Problems installing itunes...

Ok, i was installing itunes on my computer and something must have gone wrong with the quicktime installation, and now i can't install itunes because it says that it needs quicktime, but i can't repair/install/uninstall quicktime... Does anyone have any suggestions on what i can try?

I had the same issue a few months ago. I think I just tried downloading an older version of iTunes and it worked fine, I then upgraded versions from there. You can download older versions of many popular applications from this site

I have an older version and tried that and still had the same problem :(

if nobody knows a clever way of uninstalling it without using the uninstall button i might just reformat my computer again. Its annoying though as i will have to redownload the updates i downloaded, meaning another huge chunk of my quota gone :(

Edit: Problem solved! I tried uninstalling the codec pack i had installed, and then quicktime uninstalled happily and itunes installed beautifully. And since i'd copied my music back onto my laptop, including my old itunes folder my library is all set up with its ratings, play counts and playlists just as i left it before i reformatted it - yaay!
