Ok, I tried that...still getting the same message. None of the administrator accounts can open the folder.
Did you try the actual name "Administrator"? I'm not talking about accounts with Administrator privilages.

Or rightclick the folder, and the Security tab, and add Administrator there.

Not sure what it is, but is it maybe because it's out of power or something?
I don't know if this covers it, but i found it on google.
"Shine a bright light into the screen at a slight angle while the laptop is running. If you can see a shadow of the image that should be displayed then the backlight isn't working any more. A competent shop should be able to replace the backlight tube or inverter for a decent price."
My mom actually did get the light replaced, but it still didn't work. If that happens you'll probably have to buy another laptop, or connect an outside monitor up to it.

You need Root Administrator to do it.
There are several ways of logging into Root Admin.
1. Restart the computer in Safe Mode.
2. You will see a user named "Administrator". Log into that account.
-or-
(Assuming you have Windows XP)
1. Start >> Control Panel >> User Accounts >> Change the way users log on or off
2. Uncheck "Use the Welcome screen"
3. Log off
4. Type "Administrator" in the username field and the administrator password in the Password field

Sorry for the delayed reply, I've been out of town for the past few days.
Anyway, that was the username I tried. It still gave the same error message.

And...

Does anyone know why there are white patches around the text in the bar?
Try resetting your theme appearance. Right Click Desktop > Appearance. Reselect your style and apply.
Thanks for the answer, but I need help on the first question. Is there any way to recover files deleted from the recycle bin?
Once things in the Recycle Bin is deleted, it's gone.
Not quite. If you installed any hardware that day, you could use system restore. Or if you have a program called
GoBack, you can use it whether you installed any hardware or not.

Tried it. That's the mode I used when I logged in as administrator.
Edit: I figured out what I was doing wrong. Thanks both of you (Imperial and Soujiro), Alex is very happy now.

Wireless LAN Help o_x;;
My mom tried to connect to the internet on her laptop via wireless lan after downloading MS SP2 and the network connections said "wireless connection unavailable."
There were three networks available to connect to, one of them is ours, the other two must be neighbors somewhere. The laptop would connect to the neighbor's networks, but it wouldn't connect to our own.
After spending about 20 minutes trying to get the laptop to connect to my network I uninstalled MS SP2. (which I'm gonna hear about later since it took so long to download >_>) After uninstalling and restarting, the computer still would not connect to my network, but was automatically connecting to another network. I took that network off the list to automatically connect to.
Now, we have another laptop with wireless lan and its connecting to my network, but it says "no signal." Yet the internet works just fine on it.
The router is at the most 20 feet away from both laptops. Theres a desktop connected to the same router that connects to the internet just fine. I've connected my mom's laptop via a network cable, works perfectly.
If anyone by any chance should understand what I've just written, please for the love of God help me. ><

Service Pack 2 screwed around with the security settings. Is Windows Firewall enabled on the laptop? If so, turn it off.

I turned the firewall off but the wireless connection still refuses to connect.

Urgh.. adware.. "hard to uninstall" adware.. -_-
It's called 180solutions. I accidentally downloaded to my computer through a music file (NEVER DOWNLOAD MUSIC ONLINE!) Anyone know of a way to get rid of it? I tried Ad-aware but it just keeps on coming back after I delete it.

Try downloading Spybot Search & Destroy, its bit better then AdWare when it comes to finding and getting rid of adware programs. Spywareblaster is also something you mite want, as it keeps adware/spyware from getting onto your computer in the first place, very handy especially if your an IE user.

Ad-Aware and Spybot should be used together. One catches things the other cannot, and vice versa.
