And those aside, why it decided to swap the keyboard and mouse USB ports to the front, annoying me no end?
Probably because your graphicscard is a very very old one, not capable of showing off all the cool effects in Farcry (Pixel Shaders etc), thus it doesn't have to do as much work as one of the newer cards.
It probably looks like crap for you though ;P
This is what Far Cry should look like:

You're probably running the game in low-detail and low resolution settings. The old Geforce2 can't take advantage of the new graphical features implemented in Farcry and Doom 3.

Ok, I really doubt that there is someone who can help me with this, or has had this problem, but I would appreciate any help, seeing as the computer is virtually unusable like this.
The Problem:
I came to go online, and the screen was grey. The backround was all big and the colours were wierd. Nothing wants to load and its going kind of really choppy. All the colours everywhere are wierd, and kind of dotty.
I think it looked like this when it was defragmenting last time, but I have no clue.
If anyone has any idea why its like this, or how the heck to fix it, I would thank you forever.

The screen resolution is too low, making everything seem really really pixely and big. Right Click the Desktop > Settings tab. Slide the bar thingy to the right some and make sure you have at least High Color 16-bit selected. If you can't do that, restart the computer and see if it happens again.
I suspect that your video card's drivers are corrupt, causing distortions in graphics on the screen. I will post the procedure to reinstall your drivers when necessary.

Recently, I've been getting annoyed by this extremely random thing on my computer: spontaneously, the cmd window comes up, running programs that I know nothing about. I've run a virus, adware, and spyware scans, but nothing is recognizing them. The two programs that run are simple.exe and mscomm.exe, both of which are automatically saved to C:/.
Is there any way I can get them to stop coming up?

For quite awhile, we've been having lagging problems with our computor. It mainly happens when we are on the internet (or that's when its the most noticeable, anyways), however, it is not Spyware or any other tracking devices that is causing this problem. We can play for about 10 minutes (if we're lucky, it is getting more and more common) before it lags, and then to get it to load faster we either have to refresh the page we're on, or go to another page to refresh. We have thought of everything we could (Defragmenting the computor, Ad-Aware Checks, Norton Virus Checks, etc). It helps for a little bit, and then it goes back to lagging even worse than before. Today we finally got mad enough to call the Tech Support to see if it was a problem with our internet. We ran a few tests, and found out that our upload/download speeds were actually higher than they should be (I think that's a good thing...).
However, we still have the lagging thing going on. It's happened ever since Snowmucher came out (I remember, because while it was in a lag mode, it went super-slow.) The Technician who helped us said that maybe it was how many running processes we have, and I think she is right, because every time we run Ad-Aware we come up with at least 10 running processes. I think the highest up to date is 20... In fact, I just finished running it, and it said we had 13.
Can you help me figure out how to turn off or delete these running processes, or figure out what is making it lag? Thanks...

If those processes keep popping up, then you have a virus that's reexecuting itself. From the symptoms, it might be the Klez virus that Norton can't pick up. Try another virus scan. Don't just rely on Norton.

Just for reference, I usually have about 30 processes running at any given time (sometimes even more). 18 doesn't suggest any nefarious acitivity.
If you fire up task manager, you can see what is using the most CPU time.

Okay, thank you. What is another good virus scanner?

AVG 7 (not the free one, but you could try the trial) and
McAfee

Alrighty, here's a spyware question for all you smart people.
I've got Adaware, and Spybot, but I've heard mentioned on this thread a few times a program which actually stops the spyware in the first place. My question: What's it called?

I second that, spywareblaster is a great program thatll save you lots of scanning time, it mite not stop everything but it helps.

Um, I installed this game I found while looking through some of my old stuff, called Kings Quest VI. I've played it before, on the very same computer, and then deleted it after awhile (eheh, I was a bit frustrated with not being able to beat it XD).
So anyway, years later, here I am now, installing it again...er...let's get straight to the point. It says I need 256 color, and all I've got is 16 and 32 bit color, I believe. Do I need to buy a new video card, download 256 colors off some site, or something else? If I do need to download or whatever, anyone recommend where I could get it from?
I am such a moron when it comes to this stuff. >.>;;

Right click the game icon, go to properties, hit the compatibility tab and then check the box: Run in 256 color, hope that helps
