I to Tae Kwon Do!^^* I've been doing it for 7 years, and I still love it^^* I'm hoping to test for my third dan in the next few years^__^. We do some weapons training too, like staffs, kum do, and nunchucks, but not to a great extent. I'm afraid I'm not one for team sports, but I love martial arts. Pretty much all of them, though, there are tons of which I have never heard. I love Kendo/Kum do, and staffs are awesome too. Nunchucks are fun^^* But I don't dare do much with metal ones yet o.O;; they're weird to use, hehe.

Anyone else do any martial arts? I'd love to hear about it^^* And to know that I'm not the only one o.O;;

I used to do TaeKwonDo before I found out I had knee problems and I wasn't supposed to be doing impact sports. If I remember correctly (it was a few years ago now) I was one belt away from black. We did some work with nunchucks too but for safety purposes they were rubber/foam. I think I enjoyed sparring the most though :)

lol XD my own are foam hee^_^ but some ppl have metal ones, but they're hard to use, hehe. I'm scared to use them o.O;;

Sparring is ok, but I always end up with huge bruises. I'm sure everyone does tho^_^ heh.

I have knee problems. I'm scared I'll have to quit o.O;; but I'm doing exercises for them, so I hope it'll be ok. TOo bad you had to quit >.<

We always used to have gloves, shin guards and little like foam helmets to wear when sparring so bruises weren't too bad unless you had somebody that would insist on kicking you on the top half of your legs continually.

I think I'd be scared to use the metal nunchucks too, mainly because when I was having bad days I'd hit myself in the head with the foam ones or something. I wouldn't want to risk a bad day with metal ones.

I have rotation of the tibula. It means that my tibula rotates inwards and so my knees also turn inwards. With the impact sports the bones can start rubbing on the knee-cap. I have a load of physio exercises I'm supposed to do but the specialist basically said he wouldn't suggest any impact sports and I should just stick to swimming.

I've been considering taking up Karate/Kick-boxing classes somewhere but there is always the hesitation...

Hmmm. I'm not sure what mine is, o.O;; but I know that my kneecaps face inwards, which makes it painful if I bend my knees a lot, or under some circumstances o.O; yeah. My sis' are worse, she had to quit Tae Kwon Do because of it o.O;;

Heh, my helmet, pads, and chest protector, are all from garde 4 (I'm currently grade 10) so I can only fit my chest protector, and my leg pads on myarms, lol. I have nooo idea how I wore them when I was young o.O;;;. But bruises happen XD oh well^^*.

My instructor is um, 7th or 8th dan. I never remember, cus he's said it only once or twice -_-;; Bad me >.<

Nope, no 24 hour training. I know a few schools that do that, but not my school. To get some of the higher belts, though,I think we haf to go to Korea. I'd love to do that XDDD I wouldn't mind visiting Korea^^* hehe.

I hope you get your belt soon!

Yah, I hope I get it soon to. Arnt there yellow stripes on your black belts for every dan or something like that ( I was talking to hime to day and one of his ex students is 6th degree :> LOL, but thats because he turned down a few tests and is supposed to be 7th dan. Yah, im pretty sure you have to go to korea for the higher tests. Whats really cool though is that at about new years we have this pot luck dinner where we get awards, and it used to be that one adult blackbelt is chosen to go to Korea, but now they get to go to a tournmant amywhere around the world instead. 8)

I did some karate as a kid, but not anymore. I'm interested in capoeira, but I am waaaaaaaay to out of shape to do ANY of it. The coolest looking thing ever, though.

What's capoeira? Never heard of it, sounds cool!!^^*

Haha, it's amazing how similar Karate and Tae Kwon Do are! Karate is japanese, and Tae Kwon Do is korean. Karate is more with hands and fists, Tae Kwon Do is more kicking. But so many of the kicks and moves are similar o.O; hehe. pretty cool^^*

It's a Brazilian combination of dance, acrobatics, and martial arts. If you google it, you'll find plenty of images and sites about it. Some of the things those people can do are absolutely insane.
