mine are acoustic intruments.
so... guitar, piano, and any string instruments are my favourite kind of instrumental sounds.
they sound so simple, pure, clean, relaxing and soothing. i just love that

If I had to pick just one instrument, it would be the piano. Like you said, it's sounds so pure and harmonious. Although I like it best when different kinds of instruments can make one flow of music

I would say violin. Weird coming from someone who listen to hardcore music but I think the violin is the instument with the most beautiful sound. And not fast played violin, slow and long.

The triangle.

So simple, sounds great and it is good for beginners.

For me, nothing beats the sound of a well-played French Horn.

I really love the fiddle. Well, I should qualify that. I love the fiddle when if's played well. When my brother, for example, plays, it seriously makes me wince. It's an awesome instrument, but it sounds really bad if you can't get good tone quality from it.

I also love the accordion and bagpipes. Which is kinda weird, since they're supposed to be instruments everyone hates, but I think they're awesome.

And didgeridoo, while it's not my favorite soundwise, is just so totally awesome that I have to mention it :P

I love the piano, which I play. I also really like the sound of the oboe and English horn, which my boyfriend plays. And I have to agree with schlough about the French horn - beautiful when played well.

I love the flute, which I play, and even the piccolo in some songs. The french horn has a really cool sound that I love. I think I prefer wind and brass to string instruments.

I feel like a traitor, but I love the cello played in the higher registers. I actually play the violin, so I should probably say that, but seriously, ever since I heard this one soloist play this absolutely gorgeous, high song, I've been longing to switch over. It's so incredibly soulful and rich, it makes my heart feel all funny.

Oh man, I totally agree with you. The cello has this real haunting aspect to it's sound, like, it stays with you, yknow?
