I always thought pet names weren't case sensitive, ie. if someone named their pet "john" someone else couldn't name their pet "John". But when I searched for "lollypop" I got this:

Neopet : LollyPop the Acara
Neopet : lollypop the Usul

So then are pet names case sensitive or not?

I believe it was something you could only do in the early days. The current pet naming isn't case sensitive.

It's still case sensitive... 89 days ago i created a Koi named x_DreamCatcher_x so it looks like it's still case sensitive.

But you're the only one with a pet named x_DreamCatcher_x, so how does that prove it's case sensitive? You've always (and most likely will always) been able to have a pet with the same name as an account's name. The problem they're talking about is when you have two pets named exactly the same, except the capitilization is different.

No, it will bite you. Don't do it.

Pet names are. I've tried to create pets with the same names as others but just different capitalization, and it wouldn't let me. :P

the problem is also withe the same named pets, only one is able to be seen...and that is kinda unfair...if i had a pet with the name that allready exist, i wouldn't be happy to know nobody can see my pet o_O

It is still case sensitive, usernames on the other hand are not case sensitive.

The database was changed so that it recognizes DOG dOg and dog as essentially the same thing. It's sensitive to capitalization no doubt there.

It's like saying you don't feel warmth because it doesn't burn anymore.

Semantics are fun :)

Yes, this was mentioned in the editorial a few months back. They used to let you, but obviously it caused to many problams or whatever so they changed it.

And anyway, how many pets do you think there would have been called Fluffy, fLuffy, flUffy etc...it would have got really annoying...

That's what happens. In the L/lollypop case, when you click on either pet name your only going to be taken to one, the other pet will never be able to be looked at.

It had a problem in the early days. Now all the pets created after and the owners left are not seen. Since they are "on holiday" my friends nimmo couldn't be seen for a while because someone else created one later with diferent capitalisation.

It's not happening anymore.
