I had a chance to rewatch yesterday's, and it made more sense. (I don't want to admit how many times I had to watch it before noticing she was offering him the same coat! I was too caught up in some of the other weird details: why the overflowing trash can? why does the sack handle look so weird when she's giving things away? why does she temporarily look sad before giving something to the mutant? why does she offer him only a coat when she gave the other two pets a stack of clothes and a box of food?)
