Finally! They're caught up with the news gain!

I'm rather mixed on the Albat revamp. As an Albat lover, I love it because now it clearly looks more like a griffon (like shroomy stated it was), but then it lost some of its mysteriousness now that you can see the beak :\

Editorial wrote:if i want to make a new account and transfer all my stuff and pets over to it, and never go on this account again, will my current account be frozen? ~ dark_incarnate13
Nope! Your and your accounts are fine as long as you do one of the following:

Option A – Make the old one an alternate account. In this case, both accounts should have the same email address so concerned staff members won't be worried that you've been scammed, and will recognise that you are simply changing main accounts. :) Once you're done, you can keep the alt as long as you don't use it to earn Neopoints, so close down your shop there, if you have one.

Option B – Self freeze the old account if you really won't use it at all any more so it's very apparent that it's no longer in use.

Option C - Sprinkle faerie dust on your computer, spin in a circle 8 times, and yell "FLARB!"*

*Results not guaranteed.

Somehow, I doubt Option A. Option B seems like the safest option to me. o_O

I enjoyed reading the Editorial though. Lots of humor and funny bits (especially the captions people sent in... xD), while still managing to be informative. :D

The old Terms and Conditions said that if we already had more than 5 accounts, we would be allowed to keep them as long as we didn't create any more. In the updated version, this has been taken out. Does it no longer apply? ~ helixnebula
Yes, ma'am. That no longer applies. 5 is the absolute limit for accounts. If you deactivate your extras and just keep five, you'll be fine. You'll also need to designate one as your main and close down all your shops on the other 4 accounts you keep.

I don't think that's fair at all. So these people who have had these accounts for over five years have to close them now? Eh, I should just be happy that they are actually answering some important questions in the editorial, but that really sucks.

I agree. How many "extra" accounts (> 5th) can there be that are that old? It seems like those that have been playing for that long, and are still active on the site, should have the right to be "grandfathered in" and be the exception to that rule. They should have to close their shops and not be allowed to gain nps on additional accounts. However, to make someone give up pets of that age is just.... cruel.

Gah! The poor Albat! They look horrible now!

Looks like they were the newest victims of the LDP Suppository...

I disagree. Come on, for what purpose do you need more than 5 accounts? thats very piggy imo, like you're having a brigade of accounts. Just dedicate your time to play with 1 or 2 pets, for what having so many accounts and pets? its not like all those accounts are giving you extra money or games or avatars... you can play exactly the same game and enjoy it with only one account, believe me.

(the only legal uses of side-accounts are galleries and having more pets. if you want more galleries - just invest your money in one gallery instead of making 10. if you want more pets - you can have 8 with only 2 accounts, which is way more than you need imo. having 20+ pets is just impulsive: you just technically can't care for every pet you have).

Sat Nov 12, 2005 8:01 pm

I think you're missing the entire point. There are, quite a few people, myself included, who rather like having more than one pet. I'm not interested in battling, galleries, avatars anymore, or anything else really save my various pets. They are the sole reason I'm still around. While it's true that there aren't many of us around who had more than five accounts at that time, those that are are not only lucky, but devoted to their pets. If tomorrow they decided that 5 accounts was too many and three would suffice, you'd be sure I'd raise hell trying to decide if I should give away my faerie pets, or the maraquan ones, or maybe the lab ray only colors. Too work so long on your pets only to have them taken away because of a rule you were not breaking only yesterday, is beyond cruel and disrepectful.

I have exactly 20 as of now, but only because I deleted many of my accounts before the five account limit. I did so because I wanted to put more thought into my pets and their personalities, but if I hadn't done so I'd probably have about 8 accounts in be forced into choosing which pets to give up. By your logic, it wouldn't make any difference if you had an account anyway. Why go through the hassle of signing up, creating pets, earning np to paint them, buy them petpets, earn trophies, or battle when you can just as easily use your imagination and pretend you did.

You can play however you wish, but you cannot dictate how others choose to enjoy the site.

Sat Nov 12, 2005 8:55 pm

Doesn't one of the rules say that you must take care of all of your pets?
Well, i'd be surprised if you can match every pet its name... or if you feed all those pets and paly with them daily.

Imo, having more than 20 pets (25-30) is just like having a boardinghouse of pets, thus missing the point of caring and raising your very own 1-2 pets. If deleting all of your pets wouldn't be involved, i'd warmly recommend you to try and play with one or two pets and not with a whole brigade of them, its a really different thing that makes you treat your pets as friends with identity and uniqueness, and not as palettes to check cool colors.

Sat Nov 12, 2005 9:13 pm

But who are you to decide how much my pets mean to me? I can name them all, their genders, their colors, their petpets, their petpets colors and species, the approximate date they were created, how intelligent each one is, what their favorite color is, their favorite food, their favorite toy, who doesn't get along with whom, which ones are pacifists, which ones are fighters through and through, I can describe their bedrooms down to the tiniest detail, what they go through on a normal day, what their hopes and what their dreams are. Do I somehow love them less because I don't feed them omelettes and give them a cheap plushie every day? If you define taking care of and loving your pets in such a narrow and utilitarian view, then you're cutting out all the creativity, imagination, and joy that made Neopets what it is today. I am not a child and a child's view of "taking care of your neopets" doesn't suffice for me.

But if it really came down to that, if feeding them once a day and giving them a toy was ALL it took to be a "responsible pet owner", then I have no doubt in my mind that I could do that with at least 40 pets.
