I believe he was one of the fan-submitted species and the creator wasn't willing to sign a release to give neopets full custody of it. I believe the only fan-made pet that neopets managed to legally own is the shoyru.
People say the fuzio looks too much like Rayman, Sonic, or certain olympics mascots, but I don't think it looks enough like any of them to warrant a lawsuit. You can change just a few physical details about a character and it's legally your own creation.

Oooh. It looks like they might have fixed their digits before doing the primary colors. It's hard tell without Neocolours and TNP.
Hooray! The sad pose still has a freakishly large muzzle though.

My Kyrii became Mutant today. Wonder if they'll revamp it, cos i don't really like it

Doubtful, but one can only hope they'll turn it into a hairless kyrii resembling a naked mole rat. *le sigh*

I'm glad they fixed the inconsistent number of toes. I would have been just as happy if they gave them the extra finger, as long as it would be consistent. It's obvious they quickly edited the extra finger out, the hands look kind of wierd now. I guess my kyrii will now grow a giant head when sad, instead of crying. 
I'm glad my kyrii is no longer green. I preferred the old wasabi green to this new cyan-ish green. Now if they will refrain from making Shadow have purple eyes like some Shadow pets, or a white belly like the McDogfood's plushie ones, I'll be happy.
EDIT: *looks up at the pics in Huggles' post* ok, they're changing the green back to the old color! Probably much easier than finding all the green kyrii items and changing them to match.
