Actually the question says nothing about "taking part"--it asks how many users ENTERED last week's puzzle. Which, I believe, means pretty much the same thing as "submitted." Seems to me that it is totally random this time.

That was my interpretation of it too Morningstar. To me entered means submitted, and even if the wording was "took part" I would still think that everyone who submitted would be taking part.
Seems like this is just one of those ones were you need to guess and maybe one of us will get lucky and get it right.
