Yep, it's only polite. There's not that much really, and if you're keeping up with the plot on a semi-regular basis there's only a few new pages to read before you post.
Plus from what I've seen it's only the early birds who tend to be huge on the theorising latecomers tend to want to follow the steps

I don't think you even need to read them alljust the latest 2 pages should give everyone a summary of the last events and the last theories (usually with 2 people who say "Look at the letters on the beach!" and 3 who say "That's not a clue stop mentioning it!")
