I'm not sure which way I'd rather it go. On the one hand, a war would appeal to me if the plot is slow in coming as I've only recently begun to train my pet for the BD. But I like the plots as well because I have a lot of free time. I don't think either option is beneficial to the casual player. A plot requires a lot of time to get into, but a war would probably require a pet that's beyond a casual player. Getting NPs for training and equipment seems to be something that would require at least some devotion to the game.
Sort of on topic, my 2 cents about the darkest faerie PS2 game...the game was for the most part too easy, but thrown in were short segments of criminally hard gameplay. The story was...well I guess there was a decent story, but the ending was sorely lacking. All in all, I didn't feel like the 2 days I played it were wasted, but there are many better games out there.

Just something I've been thinking about.
Do you think if the DF plot/war is next, will there be sides? Will we all be "light" fighting against "dark" or would we be able to chose a side. If we get to choose sides, will the Darkest Faerie suddenly turn on the dark side towards the end because, well, we all know what happens to her (statue).
There's been mention of a Haunted Woods plot. Although that sounds great with lots of opportunities, wouldn't it make more sense to have that happen around October and Halloween?
I just hope if it's a war, it won't be like that awful ranking system one.

All I can say is that if there's a war, they better do it Meridell vs. Darigan style.
I don't care how prizes are rewarded (as long as people who don't battle don't get any prizes), I don't care what the trophies look like, and I don't care if there's only one side to fight for. But for pete's sake, do the stupid points correctly, don't limit the opponents, don't give the opponents poison, and freaking kill those stupid *insert political term here* ranks.
*stops here before he goes on massive rant*

It probably would happen around Halloween, if the DF plot comes when they say it will. (Remember how long the first Meridell one took?)
As far as Meridell v. Darigan, I didn't like that one that much. I was mad because they let everyone switch sides. In fact, I'd like it more if they did it Kass style, like the Lost Desert or Tyrannian wars. That would be cool, because everyone would work together.

Don't get me started on team switching. Oy. I love having the option to choose sides. Actually, I just love being evil, but they'd never let there be a war where everyone started off as a bad guy. Truth be told, they'd have to have a fair bit of common sense not to make a two-sided war biased toward either side. They've done brilliantly with the Lost Desert Puzzle, but they've yet to prove that they have an iota of common sense when it comes to war planning. The opponents for each side would have to be identical in difficulty, weaponry, and ability. The only thing that could be different would be their images and names. Then, once it came to choosing prizes, those too would have to be identical in every way that matters. If they were not, they'd run the risk of ticking off a group of players by default. It could be done, it could be awesome, but it's not something I'd dare to hope for from them.

I've heard in the Battledome board that hte plot is going to be based on the Darkest Faerie, but its only a assumption to them I suppose, but you know how news leaks early.

Well, that's rather obvious at this point. That's what the videogame was about and that's what the latest tcg is about.

They probably ARE going to do this, but it seems unfair - not everbody plays video games and TCGs. I'd say less than 1/10th of Neopets players have ever played the video game or card game.
I'm definitely not going out and buying them just for the plot.

I'm pretty sure they'll make a darkest faerie plot that can be completed without any PS2 or TCG knowledge. I managed to finish the LDP without ever touching a lost desert booster pack. As for the war, maybe pick sides and make it 2-player BD? I don't really do 2-player and I guess that probably leaves all sorts of possibilities for exploitation, but would be a new approach, no?

I've also done quite well in plots without ever touching a TCG card. Sometimes the info on them is useful, but you can view every one on the Neopets site anyway.
Also, a two-player BD war would be the worst ever, because there's no fair way to match up players. For example, I have 200 strength and 200 HP, which is a fairly strong pet, but my defence is low -- so if I got put up against a 200 strength/HP/defence pet, I would probably lose. Also, my strongest weapon is a Wand of Reality, while many players with lower boosts (and definitely most at my own level) are packing a Sword of Skardsen, which is much more powerful. And then there's the freezer issue -- some battlers have a H4000 Helmet or a Freezing Potion (100% freezers) while other people in their "class" only have a Black Frost Cannon or some other percentage or fragile freezer. Put two "equal" people up against each other, but with only one having a 100% freeze, and that person's probably going to win. And how do you decide whether people are "equal" anyway? Same strength boost? Same strength AND defence boost? Similar HP? It would be very hard to find enough people in each "class" to pair up for the duration of a war. Ranks were enough of a disaster -- a 2-player BD war would be even more of one.

You know, I'd like it to incorporate a little of both. Moreso a battle one than a puzzle, though. Not really a personal reason for me; I don't care for battling nor hoarding, but I could go along with a puzzle or 'support' like in the last Maraquan deal. Wish it could have all of that, but I'm probably asking too much (not meaning to be rude, either; really, I imagine a simple plot can be hard to pull off).
Yeah, supporting was easy as long as they only asked for healing potions.

Only this time i wish they would let you battle and support.

In the Meridell v. Darigan war, the sides were horribly unbalanced. In fact, the first opponent the Darigans had to fight had TWICE AS MUCH HP as the one the Meridells had to beat. Basically it went down like this: Everyone started off fighting for Meridell, and Darigan had few supporters. After about the fourth enemy or so, they gave everyone the option to switch sides, but lose half of your points. Obviously it's in your best interest to switch, because you can start all over beating enemies, while keeping some of the points you had before for free. Darigan won the war, which was a surprise for most, but I think TNT intended it that way all along. Lord Darigan went crazy with power, and with the help of the Orb, became the war boss. (You had to remember some of the plot to understand what I'm saying). My point is, TNT manipulates the two-sided wars to ensure the side they want to win, wins. If there's another two-sided war, they'll do it again.

those knowledge are only for spoilers... I mean, you know roughly what the storyline will be

Yeah, I agree with you. TNT is horrible about letting the bad guys win. As in, they DON'T! I can actually remember both Meridell wars, because they were the first ones I partcipated in. I really loved the idead of being on the dark side, but I never knew about the whole swtiching sides advantage thing. I joined on the side of Darigan, and stayed there all the way through the second war.
I would almost like to see a Neopets World War. Instead of choosing Light or dark, maybe choose Faerieland or Meridell, Darigan or Haunted Woods, then based on your side, the appropriate goons or heros would be sent after you (like if you joined Faerieland, goons would be sent after you. If you joined the Haunted woods, Darigan, or Sloth [perfect time to being him back], you would face heros.) Just my thought, and I know that it sounds rather corny.
But maybe they should just let this war go, I mean, just let it decide the fate of Neopia. If the Dark Side wins, maybe have the map changed to show that, then wait a few months (letting the good side rebuild) then invade and take back the land. I don't know, I just think that a war should actually have a consequence for once.

I'm sure you won't need to. Neopets will supply a story of their own, seperate from the darkest faerie ps2 game. sort of like a behind the scenes look. besides, Darigan wasn't mentioned at all in the video game.
Why not? Will it have something to do them fighting her back, as they are already enchanted with "evil purple", thereby immune to hear magic?
the game was a side story, and we are going to play the other half. looking very forward to what it is.
