So then... where are Princess Vyssa and Coltzan III? Princess Amira definately seems to be running the city... well, was running the city

The king is dead, but the princess is MIA. Maybe she's on a goodwill mission to Meridell or Brightvale.

PS: On the preview for pt 7 on the main page, does it look like Nabile has a mustache around her muzzle and/or am I crazy? I vote both.

today the card of the day is Princess Amira and under hints and tips it says

Princess Amira is first in line to the throne of Sakhmet City, but so far she just hasn't met the right man.

so... if shes first in line... who is the actual king? or queen?

Well the neopedia, Princess Vyssaarticle and the editorial probably explain it best.

Coltzan died as a result of the Ursurper puzzle (hense his spirit enhabiting the shrine and that spirit is still active there.) Vyssa is likely somewhere in the palace although none of the focus is on her

Princess Amira is first in line to the throne of Sakhmet City, but so far she just hasn't met the right man.

my guess is that it's one of those "can't fully claim the throne until married" deals. (Not necessarily a sexist arrangement, since it could have applied to Coltzan & other male as well as female sovereigns too -- to promote the production of heirs.)

Well, it does say (in the neopedia article, I think) that Princess Vyssa likes to dress up as a commoner and slip out of the palace.....maybe that's where she disappeared to. And I believe there was an editorial that said that Amira had been out of the country during the whole usurper thing, which is why Vyssa took over the reins (no pun intended)

Of course, in keeping with long standing royal traditions, Amira could have ordered her sister executed or imprisoned for usurping the throne.....nah

That "mustache" is Nabile's veil, albeit rather strangely colored for that shot, imho, but I'm no artist. Someone else mentioned the tattoos---those just signify that they're members of the Desert Scarabs. If that wasn't in the cartoons, then it was on one of the TCG cards.

edit: and speaking of fully claiming the throne, the Prince Jazan TCG card says "Soon he would be a king, with a beautiful queen at his side" So at least one of the royals needs a spouse in order to fully claim his throne.

We decided to change it as we didn't want another Usul being the main character. As its turns out Princess Amira was touring the desert when her father was murdered, Princess Vyssa was ruling in her absence, but handed the reins back over to her elder sister once she returned.

That was in the editorial of NT 207...

EDIT: The tattoos were in the plot, not mentioned, just shown. Not sure about the TCGs.

I don't want to sound too critical but I think making changes like that is just stupid. I mean, TNT could have easily made Garin some other species so people wouldn't complain about too many usul characters. Making changes like that only leaves plot holes. *cough*Curse of Maraqua*cough*
