She might just be a general gatherer, of stuff. And it just so happens that her statue is covered with Petpets for a perfectly legitimate reason.
Maybe the statues are the heroes, just frozen (and this has probably already been discussed - sorry if it has)

The nose on the "bear" pet and the mouth of the one on the basket are pinkish. Perhaps the statues will come to life?

I don't know. None of these people seem to be arround currently. Having the statues come to life at the end of the plot dosen't seem too far fetched. I think it works both if the spell is malicious (trapping the heros and stealing altidor's history) or protective (heros doing something difficult or unpleasent to help take altidor out of harms way by "losing" it)
I don't think that the statue will come to life as part of the clue though.

intresting theory but wouldn't the statues whose contellations have been found start coming to life? also wouldn't people start asking questions if the hereos just up and disappeared.
