Dang I use IE my RS is so out of synch now Cant just press end to get to the bottom of the page it goes to the banner instead

You should try firefox. I finally, finally downloaded it and it is wonderful. Someone on the chats gave complete instructions as to how to get rid of the top, side, and bottom ads and it has worked like a charm ever since. And, no non-Neo cookies cluttering up my computer, either. I am happy to share their instructions if you feel up to downloading it.

Problem is with firefox (ive had it before) restock doesnt work well with it well for me it didnt when I clicked the picture it wouldnt click the actual animal it clicked the entire box

I haven't seen a bottom banner yet... are they only on certain pages or is my trusty adblock already in action?

I think they're on ALL pages except the main page and the user lookups. But your adblock is probably in action!

All I have to say is that this is crap. If we don't click on a little add at the side, they put a humungus one on top. Since we aren't clicking that they decide to put on on the bottom. This is the same thing Sloth is doing in the advert attack game. They want us to click DON'T CLICK! Even if one day they have full page adds DON'T CLICK THE DARNED THINGS!

nevermind, i figured it out, it was my nortan internet security

it makes the top banner yellow (so no cockroaches )

it makes the side banner yellow

and it completly gets rid of that bottom banner like it was never there

OK, now that I have had time to adjust to this, I have done some thinking. First off, this could have been handled a whole lot better. If someone had mentioned this ahead of time, I think people would have been a bit more accepting of it. People love to participate as we saw when Adam mentioned the top banner ads--so if he had come on PPT and said he needed beta testers for the bottom ads, people would have jumped up and volunteered. And, everyone would have felt a lot better after the bottom ads were installed. I think the surprise of the thing threw a lot of people into a frenzy.

So, I have to wonder just how much control Adam has over these things. To me, he is kind of like the spokesperson for Neopets but doesn't have a lot of say over how things are run anymore--kind of like being the King of England when the actual country is run by a Prime Minister.

Personally, though I don't like any of the ads and have finally used firefox (thanks to shapu's suggestion) to block them, my guess is that we will get used to them. Just like we have done with every other change made to Neopets. I wouldn't mind them so much if they didn't clog up my computer with cookies and temp files and weren't so sleazy. They are so much worse than the JC Penney ads I see on zone.com.

But, I guess, bottom line, each of us has to decide whether the fun we get from the game is more than the pain we have to deal with from the ads. If the fun is greater than the pain and aggravation, a person continues to play. If not, then I guess, one quits and finds something else to occupy their time.

I'm not saying that I agree with their decision but rather that I have come to terms with it--begrudgingly, but I am still playing.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind them as much if they were from respectable sources, but most of them are just fronts for spammers and the like.

I'm honestly very, very disappointed. Even with this amount of users, they are definately making the amount of money needed to pay for bandwidth and make a profit. Now they're just being greedy.

Remember the good old days when they prided themselves on having no ads? I remember in a newspaper or magazine article, they said "We are a free site, we do not put ads on our pages." or something to that effect...

Why, Neopets, why? ;_;

I'd like a statement from Adam or Donna personally, not the standard businessman-forced-answer that the newspage provides. Even if the execs say they can't post it on the Neopets page, I'd be happy with an explanation here, or another site... anything... I want to know what THEY think about this, what they think about how their site (seems) to be selling out and going the way of Pokemon.

If there's more ads put onto Neopets, I'm sorry, but I think I'll have to quit. I didn't put 3.5 years of loyal gaming into the site to be stomped all over just to line the pockets of some bigwig that doesn't care about the wellbeing of the site, and what happens after it's been wrung dry.
