Finally ^.^ Everyone probably did it this way before me but for the gears I first of all tried going through, finding a 4/5/6 and then adding on but that just ended up with the gears breaking. So then I went through all of the gears, one by one, to see how much they affected the ceiling by and when I found my 4/5/6 I just put them together
It's simple and I think that's how everyone has done it but I'm just happy..now onto the books...

From the middle. There is a line on the floor that will line up with one of the sides. You want it to line up with the left side and have the right side open. Count the number of small notches that make up the open part of the ceiling ie, where you can see the statues. Try doing only one rock at a time and write things down.

Can someone help me? I can not seem to find the second stone. I tried, as the intro page said, going to the basement to use the rock then reclaiming it but that didn't help. HELP!?!?!?

Or not since all the constellations I've found have yellow and white stars in them.
I think the idea is to reduce the number of possiblities to check while not completely destroying the constellation. After removing a lot of chaff stars, you can look for two or three fitting in and then add the rest of the stars back in for a final check.
I wasn't just trying to be churlish, but honestly the ones I found would just be one or two stars without the yellow and white and that's not nearly enough to even make an educated guess if it's the right constellation.
