:o Oh yeah I totally forgot about that so thanks for reminding me and siniri my brother is 3 years younger.

Sure, neo is just a game. But he's hacking and stealing from you. If they let him think this behavior is okay, he might try hacking other people's computers.

That's certainly what I would do. Even if the computer he installed that tripe onto is yours and yours alone, what's to stop him from putting it on their computer?

I'm glad your account seems fine, Winchycott.

This was my first thought. If telling your parents doesn't work, go with the hand slap thing.

i, personally, would destroy him in his sleep.

although i'm a big fan of the password protecting the entire computer so that he can't do anything.

yey for siblings being ridiculous. =]

I second password-protecting the entire computer. Are the two networked together? He might be able to read the log from the other computer... My brother's also 3 years younger than me. He would get jealous of how far I got on certain Nintendo games (Zelda for one) and hit the reset button, erasing my entire progress (even the saved game). My parents just didn't get it, either. I'm glad we didn't have NP back then; he probably would have tried to hack my account, too.

I'm glad everything was safe in your account. Does he have an account too? It'd be poetic justice if his got iced for trying to hack yours -- but I doubt TNT will do it b/c he didn't actually get anything; it'd be hard to prove that he was the one trying to hack into it (and not, for example, you simply forgetting your password).

You could print out one of those scam neomails (go to this site for free NP) and set him up to steal the printout from you -- then his account will be hacked and he'll know how it feels. Just don't actually tell him it works or do anything else that would put your account in jeopardy. I know that seems harsh, but some people learn the hard way...

Well if Neopets is only a game and your parents refuse to take action, then they are just giving you a free pass to go vigilante on his rear. IMO

I am evil, but I would totally shave his eyebrows off in his sleep, then circulate a rumor around school that he pees in his bed. Hmm, then I would find some sort of dead rodent (don't kill it yourself, that would be mean) and put it in his lunch box. Does he have a car? Probably not. Then if you have a family pet like a dog or cat you should have some good access to something you can leave rolled up in a couple pairs of his clean socks. I have tons of more ideas, but you probably don't want to totally scar him for life.

If your parents object to all of that you could point out that you didn't hurt him at all. It's just eyebrows, a dead rat and some poo. You never have to admit to the peeing the bed rumor. If that doesn't work you could say that it's just a game you and he made up. You can't help it if he's a sore loser ;)

I've never understood the "it's just a game" argument. Just because you can't physically interact with it doesn't mean it's any less significant to the owner.

I only recently started on Neopets, so I never had the threat of account abuse from my siblings, but I grew up playing Creatures and Petz (and still, do, actually), and I remember being constantly concerned that someone would utterly destroy my pets out of spite. And, of course, my parents' reaction would be, "It's a virtual toy. Get over it."

That line changed pretty quickly when a "real" toy was involved, though. Go figure.

Yeah you're right, though. If you spend real time on it then it is real to an extent. I remember hearing a news report about a person in China (I think it was China) who murdered his friend because he had been playing World of Warcraft and had a very rare weapon and his friend stole it and sold it for real money. His friend had the nerve to say it wasn't real. That's when he killed him. Really sad.

And of course everyone has heard at one time or another about the EverQuest (I think) obsessed guy who committed suicide because of something that happened in the game. I've heard that story plenty of times, though I don't know if it actually happened or not. And I remember back when the latest Harry Potter book was released, my brother told me a guy killed himself because someone "ruined the book for him." Once again, heard, so it might not be true. But you can see my point, right? Some people take things more seriously than others. Neopets is a great example, IMO, as it is absolutely the WORST thing EVER when your account that you put all your hard work into gets hacked. Parents just don't understand, even though they are basically victims of taking things too seriously too (football-obsessed dads, anyone?).

Anyway, Winchy, I recommend that you talk to your parents (though that doesn't really do anything sometimes...) and tell them that if your brother has all the knowledge to go keylogging your computer (don't get me wrong, I'm sure the internet has made it ridiculously easy but still), then he's gotta have knowledge of other things that may or may not be very bad (in your parents' eyes), if you catch my drift. Plus, as others have said, letting this pass wouldn't set a very good boundary on what he will do later on.

And, maybe I missed it because I'm so out of it right now, but why does your brother want to hack into your account? Is it simply to tick you off? Cuz if that's the case, I will highly approve of taking a forceful approach to this problem.
