Oh nooooooo... : /

I had made my side account a neofriend with my main account, and the age is right. Did I accidentally give the wrong date then? Is that humanly possible....? x_x
My lab ray is there, and expensive items....

Fingers crossed that this will only be temporary or that there will be a way to also retrieve your.. birthdate.

It's my side accounts I worry about. o_o

Off-topic - you're exactly a year younger than my boyfriend. :P

I have tons and tons of old accounts that I can't remember usernames for, let alone passwords. I always put my correct birthdate in, so at the moment I only have one main account and no sides, so that's not a problem.

Off topic: This is the first time I've felt "old" for being born in 1985 :P

On topic: I'm glad I was over 13 when I signed up for Neopets (I think...) so I wasn't dealing with this problem. Even if I changed the year tho, I would keep the birthdate the same (I did this on other sites wayyy back).

If it would always ask for your birth date, with no way to retrieve it (since you shouldn't forget your own birthday assuming you didn't lie in the first place) it would stop virtually all hacker attempts straight away.

The good thing about this situation is that there are only so many months and days in a year.

Try and figure out a year you would likely choose. Somewhere from 16-18 is what I would have choosen if I had signed up when I was under 13.

Let's say you were born in 1990 and signed up in 2001, you would have been 11. You lied and said you were 16. So the year to start guessing at would be 1985. Start at January 1st, and work your way through every single day and every month. You can only attempt logging in so many times a day (5?) so it's going to take a long time. Even longer considering you may get through all of 1985, and have to start at 1986.

If the daily log in attempt limit is 5, then it will take you about 6 or 7 days to go through 1 month. That means it'll take about 11.5 weeks to get through 1 year. That's over 2 months of daily attempts. But, if you think the account is worth the time, eventually you'll get the right day.

If anyone here is willing to allow me to help them get their account back, that requires a birthdate, let me know through PM.

out of curiosity, How would you be able to help them?

That change is really going to get me if I ever try to access some of my really old side accounts. I usually put a fake birthday, for one reason or another, so I won't be able to get into them. Oh well... my main account has my real birthday, so I guess that's all that matters.

Well I guess I know in the future I'll have to be more honest when putting in birthdays... or at least write them down somewhere so I'll know.
