I put a baby pet in the pound to move to another account. I had two computers side by side and open to the pound and I wasn't fast enough. It seemed like my pet was adopted ina fraction of a second. A person counldn't be that fast but I suppose a program could. very upsetting....auto adoption

I do the adopt-zap-adopt out thing too. Usually I will post the pet in the adoptions thread here, or check the Neocolours forums to see if anyone wants a pet in that color (they have a whole thread where people can request specific pets they want). All the ones I've adopted out this way (like Archeril, Emeraldserpent, and Norinosuke) are still being cared for. I've also dropped some in the pound in the past and hoped for the best. Some of them (Aracadence, Terradillo) are still being played with and cared for, but others (poor Bramblehoof) are in frozen or abandoned accounts. I like to check up on pets I adopted out from time to time, and it also makes me kind of sad when they're not looked after... even if they are just pixels.
