Yeah, the Firefox popup blocker (if you can even call it that) sucks. 85% of the popups get through and some of the time the popups open before they get closed... useless to say the least.
jrtman: That's very strange, I haven't gotten a single popup in Firefox in literally over 3 months. There's only one cause I can think of off the top of my head: are you sure your version of Firefox is up to date? There was a hole in, IIRC, 1.0.1 and earlier that let some through. The current version is 1.0.7. If you're not using the latest version, you should upgrade IMMEDIATELY, for other reasons.
I'm running the latest version and always update immediately. Do you go on many sites?

Well I frequent many sites, some I know have a lot of ad-crud on them but my firefox blocks them all. There is only one site that has pop ups that get through but neopets isn't that site. Oh and one of the photobucket type sites (though not photobucket) - their pop ups get through... but that's it. Though now I think about it it hasn't happened since I updated to the latest version.
I also don't have a problem with them on neopets with Opera either

Sometimes I create this topic a looong time ago and forget to check back on it...*gasp*
Anyhoo, I shall follow some of the awesome advice given here. I already scanned my system for Adware and nothing was found. Firefox is sounding like a good idea to block ads and popups so I'm gonna fiddle around with that now. Thanks!
PS: Those unexpected talking ads are annoying too...they scare me out of my chair when I have my volume on high.

Wow. and I really that it was me and a bad computer. 
Yes, do have ad/pop up blocker. Yet still seem to get pop ups here and there. Perhaps some new coding that neopets think they can sneak in? Will wait and see...
