*** THIS TOPIC HAS BEEN LOCKED! ***

Contests, promotions, lotteries, FTPs, wishboards, or raffles are not permitted anywhere on Neopets including shops and guilds. The majority of these are scams to get free NP, items or make people buy over-priced items.

That's what I found when I reached a locked topic. It's in bold, red font and the entire post is a pinkish color. Too bad it's only the first post. I think it's a good idea to do that, especially since everyone likes to flock to a locked topic to see why it was locked. Maybe we should start doing that here... ;)

Are there still warnings?
Is my account frozen or suspened?
What rules are minor?

a bunch of blurry spots for me right now o.O

I thought the same thing. But, at least it is a start in the right direction.

Thanks for listening to us, TNT!!!!!!

'Course they are. They are probably reading this post right now. Why do you think that on Lord Nword's board, someone posted alot of people with.. bad, usernames, and in like, 10 minutes, they were frozen. See my point?

I know they are reading our posts. That is why I said that (tongue in cheek, you know?) But, one question, If they were actually reading Lord Nword's board, then why wasn't he unfrozen? Pretty obvious he did nothing wrong.

Tested made this fabulous set for me!!! Isn't it great?

I think this is a huge step in the right direction - not just out and out freezing someone for, say, typing ebay or hell or other words that are on the site, or the new people who are gullible enough to try a chain letter - warn them, and tell them in the warning that their account will be suspended for 3 days.

I'm going to guess if you get suspended when you try to log in (if you don't know you've been suspended) you'll see something similar to that awful frozen page, but instead will say account suspended for x amount of time. It would be a good thing to say on that page why a person's suspended.

Warnings I'm sure will still be given - things that don't warrant a suspension. Maybe a second warning for whatever is considered "minor" will then result in a suspension?

Yes there are questions still.

Thanks for posting what a locked topic looks like - I'm very happy to see that WHY a topic's been locked is posted. That's great.

Almost every forum or board (with the exception of Neo) that I've ever been part of has had a Lock feature for the monitors. I think this will actually help the monitors as well as the members. Less posts on inappropriate boards, less arguments, more seeing locked because a rule has been broken ... maybe some people will actually go read the T&C and Chat rules?!

I know on the forum I mod on, when I lock a topic I type why I've locked it and give a link to the forum's terms of use. We also have a "strike" system - warning, then 3 day ban, then 7 day ban, then a month ban or forever depending on the offenses.

Now, if they would just make it so when you report a message that message cannot be edited or changed in any way. I think that would save some accounts from people mass reporting for personal reasons.

Ebay. Aim. Good luck now, we're all gonna get suspended. Even if on ads or promotions: "I'm selling a Blue Kougra Plushie on EBAY for starting at 4.99!" uh-oh. They got Suspended!

True, but if you know neopets....

72 hours = a couple months give or take. :P

Mm, gotta say that this is a great new feature. In case some of you are curious about what a locked topic looks like...here, I took a screenie.

It's great that they're also protecting the author with anonymity, in case there's ever a newbie on the boards not knowing about a rule.

Didn't win for either gallery spotlight or art gallery. -.- Great, well, that kinda made me sad, but I'll enter my Buzz gallery, for the third, time next year.

Least this new, second chance thing was a great idea by TNT. :) Neoboards will be fun once again. :D Not that they weren't before.

I sorta like the new warning system.

But there's a lot of stuff that they didn't mention.

Like....how many times you get this second chance. What's a minor offence. How many warnings it takes to be frozen/suspended. When you get a warning are you automatically suspended. And so on and so on. It's not very clear, is all I'm saying.

I wish they started the locking threads a long time ago. The websites I work at this is a long time practice. We auctually never delete threads unless we're cleaning because they're proof of misbehavior ;). If I read the news correctly, only real monitors can lock the threads, and not bots they use. So, I guess it wont happen automatically, but is better then nothing. Also, instead of it disappearing people can see it was locked, and look in it and see why. Which is the standard of the places I work, we have to link to the rule broken. I guess they can't go off on the Amazing Spidey Sense (tm) as much, hehehe.

I LOVE YOU TNT!!!

The locked topic idea is okay... but if it's really inappropriate it should be DELETED.

And Pirate Caves of Doom.

In the editorial they said stuff about "the most horrendous three weeks" or something. Meaning personal problems or something. *Shrugs*
