Switches.. I didn't think it was gonna work, but Ooooh, muuch better... glory is the name firefox :P

Thanks very much for the info! :)

That was pure genius. It looks so much neater and better now!

This is what Neo is supposed to look like. Not those great whopping big ads.

I wonder how dohring is gonna feel about this? He's the one who probably came up with the idea anyway.

Shh, everyone stop talking about this already. Wait Douhring will come in and see the solution we came up with and then go find other ways to prevent us circumventing it. :P

Maybe true though... the last time we managed to block the ads and get them to move up (the old, smaller ad banner) TNT came along and made it so that blocking the ads would not shift up the page, and furthermore would erase our username, np amount and pet name (though that was fixed after a day or so).

Therefore I suggest not talking about this all over the place, just keep it among us, or ENT will come up with devious schemes to foil our methods again.

You rule Xizer! Thanks man... Now I love Firefox more... Anyways, TNT visits here? Can someone post a link to some of TNT's posts or something?

I decided to try the Adblock system that Xizer mentioned. It somehow loaded into Netscape instead of Foxfire (wierd) . It can also be used to remove the navigational banners! I really disliked them (athough I know some people LOVE them). Just a suggestion!

EDIT: Sorry you got banned. there are some really *err* effective mods about.

Now, if only there is a way to block those ads on IE...*dreams* :)

Optimus, after reading all of that I was thinking the same thing! You beat me to it. Wouldn't it be great if we could d/l something like that for IE?

There's stuff you can buy for IE. Sometimes there's some free stuff. I posted a few links in the old thread to those.

They don't tend to be an add-ins like Firefox....at least, the one's I tend to use are.

Hee. Hi, Adam. We complain, but we like you. :)

This was SO close to pushing me over the edge. For several reasons.

1) I have a vision disability. Hard enough to see stuff on a page without flashy banners trying to blind me.

2) No one around me plays Neopets anymore, so I wouldn't be losing any friends that way. In fact, most of the people I know consider that me playing Neopets is some form of weakness.

3) I hate ads. Do you know how long I searched for a free web server that didn't have banner ads? Months.

And after reading these facts about Doug and what he's doing to RUIN Neopets, I'm wholly in favor or a walking out by the Neopets staff. I don't care if the site was down or stuck at a standstill for a week or so. What I care about is getting Neopets back to the user-friendliness and personalisation of its earlier days.

I know it can't be easy for Adam and Donna to read this stuff critisizing their site, but if they don't like it either, there should be something they could do.

...I know that even as a student, I'd be ready to help with the graphics on a pet site. I'm in my late teens and completely prepared to put in all the time I'm not spending on homework (I'm in uni, doing a bachelor of visual arts and specializing in digital art) on graphics. And, if the site wasn't making much money, I'd even do it for free.

Sorry, was just reading this and had to say something. I can't just stay silent on anything this serious. And I believe that Neopets quality should and can be better than what that banner has turned it into.

You could offer to work as an artist for Neopets for free. :)

You know, as soon as I get some more work in my portfolio and update my web site, that's exactly what I intend to do. It's been a dream of mine for a long time.

When I saw that the AdBlock extension for Firefox worked for your Netscape, I ran over to Mozilla and did some checking around. It turns out that AdBlocker works for Mozilla, as well as Firefox. Since Netscape 7 is actually Mozilla 5.0, and they both have the Gecko engine, AdBlock works for both browsers!! I installed AdBlock, and it automatically set up the correct version for my Netscape!! Yay!!! :D

I installed the ChromeEdit extension also, but it's not showing up correctly under my Tools menu. And I can't figure out out to uninstall it now. But I just found out how to create the UserContent.css page, and am off to try it now! Thanks everyone for the help!!

You could only do that for so long, because eventually you'll need to get an actual job that requires money. With a job on the side, you wouldn't have as much time for neopets.

I personally love the new banner. It looks much neater than the last one, even if it is bigger. I still don't like having my stats at the top, but maybe I could suggest to neopets to have a feature where you could choose which place it goes(like the special toolbars they're going to come out with).

I'm also very glad that TNT was very upfront about it, and didn't just surprise us with a change again. People need to realize that the site takes money to run, and that the people who work there need money to survive, so these changes ARE neccesary.

*EDIT* At school, I can't even access my stats, because the computer(a Macintosh*bleh*) makes the ads push the original neopets titles over them. I'm not very pleased about that. At home everything looks fine, though.
